There is no reason to really mention the Dominion War, its not like we saw Picard take part in it at all.

I assume he did but we never saw it so there is no real point.

That could change if they plan on bringing in anyone from DS9, so far its just TNG and Voyager.

Heck they don't even need to mention the Dominion War. It could be as simple as saying the Federation having recently experienced a galactic war in recent times. Keep it vague for the newbies. (Everyone can relate to how deliberating any war can be). And us trek experts would know they were referencing the Dominion war. Best of both worlds.

Could you imagine Picard on the E, kicking ass on the front lines? Maybe leading a fleet? There’s a flashback for ya.

Alas, René Auberjonois is no longer with us, but, hey, they mentioned Quark... It might be cool to see updated Ferengi makeup too. Especially if they could do a truly intelligent and ruthless Ferengi story.

This would have to follow Lucas' earlier plans where Vader & Anakin were separate people or else Shinzon is Soji's father.

That was pure Season 1 and 2 Picard, being a douche to get a point across to a troublesome person. Thing is it worked in, say, 2365 in his Ready Room but doesn't when faced with a scared young woman who's just found out her entire life has been an implanted lie.

I actually had an idea eeks ago, about how they could have shoved a couple of sentences about the war in: Take a poignant scene without dialog (e.g. when Picard took out his old combadge), and have whatever they call radio/tv in the background. Just a few sentences about how, even 20 years afte the war, I don't know, the fleet is still smaller than it used to be, or tensions are still high between...., or there are still.. whatever... shortages in the colonies of the xy system.

So, everyone basically knows there has been a war, which has changed some things. Nobody needs to know the enemy, or what the Founders were like.
