I have watched TOS on repeat for years. TNG to a lesser extent. As Picard draws from TNG except for a few things, I think I have some knowledge about Star Trek. I have literally been watching it my whole life.

Then you should know that canon is ever changing and all series have continuity errors.

Visually I have issues with DSC but to the writers' credit they have tried to tie that series to TOS and ENT as often as they can. They've mentioned or shown people and things like Jonathan Archer, Enterprise NX-01, Christopher Pike, the Battle of Donatu V, Robert April and even made the Vulcans of this period more shady and potentially more troublesome, finding ways to tie their behavior to both TOS and ENT. They've even gone out of their way to not mention the Romulans even once since the Star Empire has spent the previous 96-97 years in isolation and unseen by the Federation.

Sure, we haven't gotten any mentions nor appearances of Augment Klingons but to DSC's credit it's been pretty slavish to most 22nd and 23rd century canon.

The USS Pussyslayer could have been named after a classical music group. Or maybe it was named in honor of Starfleet Captain Earlington Pussyslayer.

Pretty sure if a ship was named 'Pussyslayer' the captain it would be honoring would be Jim Kirk.

According to auntie Wikipedia:

"Fuck is a profane English-language word which often refers to the act of sexual intercourse but is also commonly used as an intensifier or to denote disdain. While its origin is obscure, it is usually considered to be first attested to around 1475."

The most interesting part here is its use as an intensifier. The part that's unrealistic to me is that "fuck" is still a swear word 300 years from now, not that it's abso-fucking-lutely still in use. I expect it to go the way the German word "geil" (roughly: horny) went. When I was little I better not be caught saying it by my grandparents, but by now it's used to say that something is (roughly) "fucking awesome" just as often if not more often than its original meaning.

No one is trying to do that. It's about using curse words in Trek. From damn and hell in TOS to Merde and shit in TNG to fuck in DISCO and PIC. As censorship relaxes more words become available.

I actually remember when the word shit became available for basic cable programming because South Park did an entire episode with a ticker in the corner counting off how many times any of the character said the word "shit". The funny thing is after that episode aired, they still continue to bleep the word.
