The original concept version fit even better.

The physical model was damaged after its use as the Yamaguchi in the DS9 pilot, and it was crated away in a box. When it came time to scan the remaining physical models into CGI models, they didn’t bother to uncrate it and fix it; they just scanned the Jein Excelsior, the Enterprise-D, the Reliant and the Nebula models, and that was enough for them, along with retexturing the Akira, Steamrunner and Saber CGI models.

    Don't remind me... :barf:

I "credit" Eaves with the "My impulse engines are incinerating the Bussards, you say? Oh well, I don't give a fuck" school of thought that appears to have since been followed doggedly by the likes of AbramsTrek, STD, and ST-Online (the latter of which -inexplicably- a large portion of fans seem to be treating as canon). He also designed every ship in Insurrection & Nemesis, and a slew of others, so I don't know why you think he's being given too much credit...

Alex Jaeger's Akira-class makes for a good Cardassian-war era torpedo cruiser, both based on the clunky proto-TNG aesthetics (excepting the post-refit lifeboats) and the registry. Steamrunner & Norway are forgettable, background low-res ships, and the Intrepid came before the Ent-E (and apart from the small nacelles, is mostly fine AFAIC).

I have no problem with the E being reduced in height. It's the unoriginality, and overall lack of thought that goes into the design as a whole that I dislike.

    THIS!!

I'm still mad that they never came across the ruins or debris or wreck or abandoned hull or even private ship or pirate ship that used a Connie or Connie II/Enterprise class refit in any of the 24th century shows.

The Stargazer was originally supposed to be a TMP Constitution class. Also, there was the wreck of a Constitution saucer and secondary hull in BoBW.

Actually the crashed ship in DS9 "The Sound Of Her Voice" was purportedly a Constitution II, and the wreckage of the Enterprise refit from STIII was used for the Wolf 359 graveyard in TNG "The Best of Both Worlds" :)

Edit: Dammit, pipped to the post by @Dukhat!

Also, Yesterday's Enterprise *absolutely* should have used the "A" and the TOS crew, and been used as the first feature movie or a two part season cliffhanger.... Absolutely wasted concept, and could have saved all the design money from BOTH versions of the C.... the TNG movies could have started with First Contact. They should have locked the idea in a box until the TOS movies were done and not wasted it on an episode.

If they'd have set the first two seasons of Discovery 25 years after Star Trek VI, the same way they set Picard 20 years after Nemesis, then I would've wished the B hadn't been introduced. Seeing the Enterprise-A in 2318 with 2018-2019 production values would've been too perfect.

Of course, I'm biased. The Refit/A is my favorite version of the Enterprise.

Yep, I forgot about the Olympia. It was a reuse of the damaged STIII saucer.

I'm not so sure that would have been a good idea. Sending Kirk, Spock and the rest of the Enterprise-A crew to their deaths at the hands of the Romulans seems a pretty crappy way of ending their story.

I had a similar thought, but in my version, it was the Enterprise-B that rescued the Shenzhou (instead of the Europa), and then would have suffered the same fate as the Europa from the Cleave ship. Then, at the end of S1, instead of seeing the Enterprise-nil, we would have seen the brand-new Enterprise-C.

This. Plus we're talking about 1990. That would've robbed us of TUC.

In-universe, I have no problem with the Akira class being a retro-style homage to the NX.

Same here. One of the few ships that feels achievable.

It’s possible. If it had been mothballed, but every 50 years or so have been given latest upgrades, it could still kick some ass

But no, it really really couldn't. We're talking, what, 250+ years later?

Trek stretches credulity enough as it is. ;)

I really hope we see the Enterprise-E, maybe refit. The Verity and Oddyessy can exist - the F can be of that class later, like how the B was an Excelsior and Excelsiors lived alongside Connies (such as the 1701 and A/Lexington) that were being phased out.

Now comes the how we see it. I wouldn't be surprised if Picard is facing down the E's angry guns for a transgression he's done against the Federation.

I don't think it'll go down like that.

As it stands, Picard hasn't actually done anything illegal (nor do I think he ever would). There's no reason for Starfleet to be chasing him. Hell, they probably don't know, or even care, where he is or what he's doing.

That said, I can totally see the Ent-E sweeping in to save the day when La Sirena is in danger.

Ooh, yea, a Big-Damn-Heroes moment will also work well, too. Especially if it comes in after a string of heavy gut punches.

They're probably glad he's out of Federation space.
Not sure this is a "Big-Damn-Heroes" type of show.
