The next time it activates it should be Robert Picardo with Rios going "What the hell?"

Not sure if you're joking that she slept with a hologram but I like it anyway.

Kirk could kill a velociraptor with a single hit from his Babel butt bash, through he'd probably settle for scaring it off. They're quite meager.

You say that but Shatner is still pretty active for a man his age. More so than Patrick I’d say.

I would expect many to escape if the trajector can make people travel for 40,0000 light years. Unless there was only one trajector for the whole planet? (Stupid idea but then Star Trek writers are never good at world building)

Have you watched TOS, TNG or ENT career progression is not encouraged in Starfleet

    He dies.

Its a sci fi tv show, reality and real experience do not trump plot needs, e.g Cadet Kirk is made captain for saving the planet and his classmates all get a promotion

Because the entire series is a detective show. Come on. It was a scene that served the plot not the plot or premise of the series. Though The Laris Mysteries might be fun.

She could trade barbs with Zhaban and I would be satisfied.

I'm happy that we finally progressed some in the story and hopefully left a lot of the Narek/Rizzo storyline behind (potentially after next week).

It feels like two different writing staffs were trying to mesh together two stories when it comes to comparing the Picard and crew scenes and the Soji/Narek/Rizzo scenes, with the former definitely being more interesting and better written. Soji meets Narek and suddenly they are sleeping together. They fight and suddenly they are back to sleeping each other and he's progressing his love for her. Are we inferring that Narek is such a player and a good spy that she just swoons for him when he's blatantly acting spy-ish. Both Narek and Rizzo are written as cardboard villains and are never given the depth that Picard's crew has.

This also makes me wonder why we needed the scenes back home with Commodore Oh. Was it just to show how alone Picard really was? Was it just to show a Vulcan in sunglasses? I'm struggling to think of what a satisfying payoff to that plot line would be.

Michelle Hurd, Santiago Cabrera and Alison Pill continue to nail every scene they are in. There were a lot of good character scenes between them this episode and they were all exceptional.

Patrick Stewart also continued to show why he is still one of the best in the business. His PTSD scenes were raw and outside of the scene with his brother in "Family" where he breaks down, this is the only time we've realistically seen him affected by it. The scene of the Locutus face overplayed over his in the Chateau was another high point.

Isa Briones has impressed me in scenes where she is not attached to Narek and her character is doing her own thing. She has shown her range back to the premiere as Dahj and I'm hoping that since she has escaped the cube, she will continue to shine playing scenes with Stewart.

As a person who has literally seen every Star Trek episode and thanks to autism can remember a lot of these obscure facts, it was fun to see the Sikarians used in this way. They were such a goofy people, mainly because of Ronald Guttman's portrayal in Voyager season one. It'd be a total forgotten episode and now people are debating it again. I prefer something like this instead of things like the Borg temporal transmitter in Voyager's episode Timeless. But just imagine some drones with those Sikarian hairstyles.

I really hope that Elnor didn't suddenly learn how to use the transporter after living amongst a group of nuns in the middle of nowhere. Not only would he have had to learn to use the transporter, but he would've had to figure out how to hide his transport from the rest of the crew.

I had to laugh at the split second scene on reclaimed drone popping up out while Picard, Soji and Hugh are running and he says "Locutus" is the more laid back tone. It took me out of the moment.

I'm really hoping that there will not be some small, insignificant decision made for Riker and Troi that people who dislike the series will clutch to as another "not my Trek" moment.

I completely disagree about Narek. I thought the actor was outstanding and I'll miss him when he's gone

If I recall correctly, both Kirk & Spock technically held the rank of Lt. Cmdr. during the bulk of the film.

Also....Narek isn't dealing with a human. He's dealing with a puzzle. A synth with rather than just one "It doesn't look like anything at all to me" hole....she has several. A Voight-kampff test would pick her up in like one minute.

And also...yes he's very smooth. The best liar and manipulator tells the fewest lies possible, hence why he genuinely fell in love with her.

....but i will grant the super-villain method of trying to kill her was tropish.

Kirk carried the rank of Lieutenant. He was field promoted to executive officer by Pike, though that's a position not a rank.

It's not completely unjustified though...having seen what her sister could do, I wouldn't want to be in the room with her when she activates.
