Too many substantive things at once: I'm watching a second time in order to take it all in, but these are my preliminary thoughts:
  • Norapenthe? Is that like Rurapenthe, or did I hear it wrong?
  • ACTING: lots of not just emotional work from Stewart, but amplifying the emotions of those around him
  • I enjoyed the Narek angle more this time.
  • It was touching--and for you haters, hopeful and optimistic--to see Hugh's explanation of the Borg reclamation project.
  • Chrai Yan? I'm not putting it past Chabon to use concepts from Jewish mysticism, and this is close to Chai Yah (god of life)

  • It was touching--and for you haters, hopeful and optimistic--to see Hugh's explanation of the Borg reclamation project.
Pretty sure it's all going down a black hole next episode when Romulan lady Rizzo brutally tortures Hugh and he's forced to activate all the drones or something.

Does anyone else think Raffaela was a little rude to be vaping in front of everyone like that?

Why, you think they might've wanted a toke??

In all seriousness: Of course it was - and exactly as Raffi intended. It automatically declares to everyone in the room, and communicates to us, the audience (or most of us, at least...) that Raffi doesn't "give a fuck about any of you or what you think" and to discourage anyone from getting physically or emotionally too close to her. Raffi has her walls up almost all of the time; this is just yet another example.

Soji going around quantum dating stuff in her room reminded me of Archer going around quantum dating stuff from the Xindi weapon.

The clapping for Raffi made me cringe, browbeating a friend into doing you a favor isn't applause-worthy.

Really liked the scenes with Hugh and Picard and the xB regaining their lives one piece at a time. It would have been easy for Hugh to be judgmental, considering he was Borg longer and more recently and is dealing better, but he knows people handle trauma differently.

Nepenthe

And next weeks trailer makes it seem like that may be the planet where the Rikers are living.

Also, Jean-Luc asked Hugh for that planet(?) specifically.

I really liked this episode alot. I'm so glad they had the easter egg about Romulans having 4 names that was mentioned in Diane Duane's Romulan books. I liked Hugh's story arc in this episode and reunion with Picard. It Was one of my favorite parts of this show. Picard having flashbacks being Locutus of Borg & the scenes on the borg cube were hard for him to be there. I like that Soji was looking for clues about her dreams and the photos with her Mom and Dahj and I liked the impossible wooden box borg cube that Narek had was well.I liked Hugh helped Picard and Soji escape. I hope Narek's sister won't kill Hugh.I'm looking forward to seeing Riker and Troi meeting Picard and Soji next week. And what happens to Rios and his crew dealing with the Romulans and trying to escape them.Jurati can't be trusted. I worry she might try to harm Soji besides the Romulans too.

Heh, I've been seeing people think the transporter at the end is some bullshit they made up for the show, not realizing it originated from Voyager.

I'm rewatching Voyager and I forgot who that race was actually called. To read it here and be reminded was pretty impressive that attention to detail that the writers showed. I'm trying to understand the timeline though. Were the Sikarians that we met in Prime Factors escapees from the Borg, like Guinan's people? Did they get assimilated after Voyager's visit? If that's the case than the Queen didn't have that technology in BOBW.

I still feel with some time travel thrown in later in the series, Soji will turn out to be the original Borg Queen. Being built from Data’s memories, his experience during FC has to be hidden in her personality somewhere

Whether or not there will be some faction that will try to pervert the project does not change that Hugh, as human and Borg, is leading a project to restore the dignity of people who have had their lives and bodies destroyed by war.

Riker: Have you watched the news lately? This just came on all frequencies.

Rizzo (on screen) : Hi Picard. Hand over the girl now or your buddies Third of Five and Legolas get pushed out an airlock!!!

Picard : :(

I’m surprised no one has mentions one important detail revealed by Hugh. The Romulan leader is a queen.

Who do we know that has been in TNG and has had multiple dealings with Picard? Someone that, given the theme of the show, might pop up in the final episode or later seasons? Someone with close ties to the Tal shiar and a long standing hatred for the federation? Someone with remarkably blond hair for a romulan...

I just realized that the Sakarians were the aliens from "Prime Factors(VOY)." Picard wouldn't know about it since the assimilation happened sometime after 2371.

Hugh mentioned to Picard that the Borg obtained the Sikarian technology after Picard's time with the Borg.
