Just watched episode 4 of The Ready Room. One thing for sure is it made me really want to re-watch TOS' episode "Balance of Terror!" :rommie:

I will confess when they first introduced the Santiago Cabrera's character, Rios, I thought okay another generic Han Solo clone, however, I am now starting to warm up to him. His interview with Wil Wheaton really impressed me and to hear how he is approaching the role gladdened my heart (as opposed to the early interviews with the actors on "Enterprise" who seemed to look at Star Trek as primarily a cash cow - then again so did William Shatner so who am I to judge ).

Looking forward to this Thursday's installment where Wil will interview Evan Evagora ("Elnor"). Definitely hope his character survives as Elnor could be the break out character who ends up transcending the series.

I understand that the purpose of these things is to be an extended commercial for the show. I also get that for some reason a large number of fans are interested in the whole 'production process' and 'craft of acting' type stuff which frankly I couldn't care less about. Going into a few of these with that mental frame as preparation I still found Wheaton to come across as overly enthusiastic to the point of it being phony and irritating. so there it is.

Just to be clear, I have nothing against the actors getting rich from a job well done. I just greatly prefer and admire the Nimoy approach of quality and integrity of the work is first and the fame and riches will follow from that.

Wheaton wouldn't have been my choice to host.

He's a mediocre interviewer with a nervous energy that masks profound insecurity.

The deadline podcast is superior in every way.

Wheaton's allure (for us 40-50ish aged original TNG fans, anyway) is to feel like we've pulled up a chair and are sharing a cold one with an old friend, talking about our other old freinds' new adventures and general geekdom. Sheesh, he introduces the Ready Room with "Greetings, nerds!". Need I say more?

I am enjoying his show. I didn't catch last season of Ready Room when it was buried in Facebook, and I didn't like AfterTrek , but Wheaton is doing well with the interviews.

Another cringe-worthy, too-long interview from Wil Wheaton.

I wish they'd hire someone who's a little better at this.

    I'm finding this show unwatchable.

All these after-shows are the same prolonged gush-fests. Wheaton's not in control here. I admire his enthusiasm for the material at least. I've watched one interview straight through and tune in for the clip of the following week's episode.
