He also revealed (to we, the audience, if not to Picard and the others) that Jurati was much more involved in the creation of Data's daughters that we had been led to believe.
True.

Imperfectly perfect. (I believe that's what Maddox said)

Finally I read all posts. Really, are people so surprised that they haven't offered the character of Maddox to a guy whose most important role in the last ten years was "Crime Scene Photographer"?

Hollywood is fiercely competitive and the fact that an actor doesn't have a robust career is rarely an indication of their actual level of talent.

Slagging on Brophy just makes you look petty and small-minded, if not cruel.

It would have been a great gesture to the actor and the fans if they hired him back. But, nope!

There was a lot of crap going on in the 80s, too. Not to mention during TOS time.

Also you can argue that especially in darker times series are needed which inspire people and show them a better way. Or just that it is worthwhile to give people a reason to laugh and forget their sorrows for a moment when real life is bad.

Well, I wouldn't argue that, since I don't actually believe it and nobody's paying me to pretend I do. But you can, if you like.

if that's how your tastes run, then maybe Picard just isn't for you. Although it's not likely the show won't prove to be inspirational, in the end.

My bet: not low enough to keep you from watching.

True. I'll keep watching, but maybe just binge when the season's done. I'm a glutton for punishment. Hell, I endured two whole seasons of Voyager before I finally pulled the plug.

:)

Christ, are people really bothered that they recast Maddox, a one off character? The fella has been retired for years and probably wasn't interested or on holiday.

As soon as Brian Brophy reveals he was approached, but declined, I will no longer be "bothered."

Looks like we've finally reached the point where the "grace period" is over. This is basically like a thread for a new episode of Discovery. Well, not quite, but close enough. It has that type of vibe now. Almost.

Meaning what? That the thread is negative?

How much of a "grace period" does a show deserve? If it's bad halfway into its season, it's a bad show.

I don't give a shit about if you hate it. So we're clear. I'm just noting the "new show" / "new forum" smell is gone. Five episodes seems about right. I gave ENT six episodes before I moved on. Of course, I did the smart thing. People here, today, who felt as I did back then, won't.

And apparently you've missed the many episodes where they show that humans have in fact not evolved as much as GR tried to pretend and that it's more or less just technology that has allowed them to not act on those base desires and flaws.
No I saw them but that was still at the core of the show imo it seems like that was completely thrown out I know no one will agree with me nothing new lol once again just my opinion.
