Discovery won't be painted into a corner. They'll go back and change time and stop Picard from destroying the Federation. Then Picard will die when Patrick quits the show, and Discovery continues in the 25th century while taking on the La Sirena gang, merging the shows.

It might be better this way rather than writing Trek itself into a corner with whatever fate Discovery S3 shows.

Better episode than last week, gave Jeri Ryan a chance to stretch her metaphorical legs.
Sorry that Icheb ended his life so horribly. 20 bucks says that Gurati was the blond in the mask dissecting him.
Enjoyed all the little subplots, hope they give Elnor something to do other than loom in a confused manner.

Well, its kind of a rebuttal to Voyager actually, as if this was a Voyager episode it would have turned out to just be a Halloween story Neelix was telling a group of kids or some twaddle like that.

If this were a Voyager episode, half the Voyager crew (who were Maquis anyway) would be hunting Bjayzl and she'd be so jumpy saying, "What? Is it the Delta Flyer after me again?"

I'm convinced that the fall of the Federation will ultimately be traced to a batch of bad wine from the poor quality of grapes harvested by Chateaux Picard in 2399 while Jean Luc wasn't around to perform his usual quality control assessments.

A much more balanced entity as a result that is not truly either of them.
Probably the big bad for season 2.
I am not so sure about that, I got the impression that the Borg Queen was offering Data something she knew he aspired to be, more human, that cant be the Borgs goals as they are literally taking people and adding cybernetic parts to them which is the exact opposite.

Its possible but I would expect the Borg would have been able to create a Dahj/Soji before now if they had wanted to, especially as they had Data in their hands for a time and their technology and knowledge was far more advanced, it wouldn't have been hard for them to replicate his positronic brain and as you stated we saw that they could grow and graft flesh but never did so in any of their drones or even the Queen herself.

There is no endgame that they couldn't have achieved by themselves anyway, they don't really need the synths at all.

Why would Star Trek be painted into a corner? Discovery takes place 7-800 years into the future from Picard's perspective. That's an awful lot of history to flesh out.

If I was a Borg kid, this storyline would freak the hell out of me.

Now that I like but I don't know if the dates would match with her age.

Fair enough, I guess it would be like saying LOTR was painted into a corner because we know hobbits, elves and dwarves don't exist on modern Earth.

So Icheb died a horrible death and Jurati is a psycho. I wonder why she beamed them up then... So she murdered Maddox... And now the borg cube. There are so many people out to get Soji that I don't see how she'll survive.

    LOTR is not SCIENCE fiction.

Will we ever see Seven again, or was that a one time shot?

It would be a nice piece of interconnectivity to have Picard during the fall of the Federation, and Discovery be about building it back up. Discovery doesn't have to go into detail on how it fell, just allude to events of 800 years previous.

Star Trek: Picard. Hope is dead, murder anyone you want, say any foul thing you want to, screw it all. After this episode, I felt something that I thought I'd never feel while watching a Star Trek show.

I felt depressed. This episode featured three brutal murders and two of them were committed by our heroes. Is this is becoming too much. I just don't believe that this show belongs in the same franchise that would feature our main hero shout to a godlike being declaring "I will not kill him!" For all the retconning these show runners are doing to the franchise as a whole, maybe they think Kirk did kill the Gorn captain and he just felt bad about it afterwards.

What if Data is still alive? We're all assuming he was destroyed because it certainly looked convincing enough. But what if he was saved at the last second and hidden?

Yes, maybe he was snatched away by a caretaker who wanted to mate with him and spent all this time coming back...

Not at all, he isn't dead until we see the body, same goes for Lore.

Well, since the death of Icheb, I guess.
