Considering we still don't know what happened to Lore

Yes it was, it really should have been picked up on by someone but the plot required otherwise.

Guilt over her part in whatever it is and also guilt over what she was committed to doing.

I strongly suspect borg technology is involved. I don't think Maddox ever had what it took to do it just with what he had from Soong.

I agree. Also, the Borg kinda play a role in this show and I'm still not sure how they are connected to the Romulan conspiracy and the Synths

That is a big a part of it yes but with Lore's body still being available working out how to recreate a positronic brain is a matter of trial and error at worst.

Creating a flesh and blood body is a great feat, especially one that can fool bio scanners.

Successfully merging the two together to create a true life form is something else entirely.

Yeah its been talked about ever since we saw Data in the dream sequence and realised what Dahj was.

Lore is the elephant in the room, imagine if he has merged with Data and crafted himself a body like Dahj/Soji.

It would be like having a perfect form Data.

What if the Borg were able to assimilate the synths? It would lead to a very powerful new form of Borg drone, one with all the physical advantages of the synths, the collective mind of the Borg but also the ability to blend in as human. I could definitely see why starfleet and the tal shiar would want to destroy them. Perhaps, their goal is to destroy the synths before the Borg get to them and assimilate them?

The whole purpose of Zhat Vash could be to guarantee that would never happen, I get the feeling the Borg have already tried though with that Romulan ship they attacked, or perhaps that was a test of some kind.

Like I said Commodore Oh's actions are starting to make me think that they are not the enemy after all.

The only thing that goes against that is how immune Data was to the Borg Queen herself, he just wasn't impressed at all and already having flesh and blood bodies means the Borg couldn't even tempt the synths with that.

Perhap its just a simple case of stopping what Zhat Vash consider to be an inevitable synth revolution at some point.

    History repeating itself.

Plus the Borg are travelling in the opposite direction away from the biological, not towards it.

Plus it would allow Brent to play "Datalore" without being perpetually Data.

Yeah at the end of the day Data is dead but what is left could be merged with Lore to create something greater.

I think a merged Data/Lore could be capable of creating Dahj and Soji.

Easily, especially without being held to the "ethical and moral subroutines" that Data had

Oh my God, reading that sentence about guaranteeing and "they are not the enemy after all," I just had the terrible feeling that the season might end with Picard defeating the Zhat Vash, and Oh/Rizzo/Narek/whoever survives will tell him with their dying breath that "by destroying us, you have doomed yourselves." The Zhat Vash will eventually turn out to have been keeping something even more evil and dangerous at bay, and Picard just inadvertently played into the hands of that evil by thwarting their plans.

The borg are seeking perfection in the meld of biological and non-biological not the elimination of the biological. The queen offered data flesh suggesting that it would make him more perfect not less.

I deducted 100 points off this episode specifically because it reminded me "Voyager" existed.

And then that's why the Fed's in ruins in Discovery? Discovery has to fix Picard's mistakes? People who don't like the show aren't going to take well to that...

Yes and the synths are that perfect meld of biological and non-biological. The synths should represent ultimate perfection for the Borg.

Could be. Then again, ten things happen every year in the Federation that could put it in ruins, only thwarted by heroic Star Fleet officers at the last minute every time. Over a thousand years, someone is bound to slip up.

Well, if they go that route, they can spend the further Picard seasons to clean up that mess and everything would return to more or less status quo by the end. I don't think they'd realistically paint Discovery into a corner by depicting the fall of the Federation in a different series.
