I mean, I'd understand that if the original character gave the performance of a lifetime. But it's Maddox we're talking here. A character I only remember eixsted, because I prepared myself for PIC. From an episode that normaly fell under the 'skip it' category when it came to TNG rewatches. (even though, I hear, some people actually like it)
It is definitely generally considered to be among the best Trek episodes ever, so I'm sure a lot of people are pretty familiar with it.

It's my second favorite episode of the show. And is still Pat's best performance with the character - it sits perfectly within his wheelhouse.

Why take such exception to the mere observation of a discrepancy? Your post has more fermented grape juice in it that mine was intended to.
Yours isn't the only complaint in the thread. None the less, if you were only making a simple observation, why did it require several replies?

And that doesn't change the fact that there is no discrepancy to observe in the first place. As pointed out, people play characters of drastically different ages all the time. For Hollywood, it's truely just a number. I'm sure that holds extra true in a universe that can wipe away wrinkles, skin blotches, and other dermal blips and blops with the literal wave of a magic wand.

Not to mention, I don't think Dee was 140 when he filmed Farpoint.

Count me in with those who love "The Measure of a Man". Stewart gave a great performance and so did Jonathan Frakes as the prosecution. The scene that culminated with him turning Data off and talking about Pinocchio and his strings, that was heart-wrenching. Riker was put into a no-win situation, and Frakes played it wonderfully.

The scene with Guinan was one of Whoopi's best scenes as the character. Guinan and Picard's relationship, and how much he trusted her, was one of my favorite things about the show. The conversation between Picard and Guinan is what thematically set up the great scene posted above.

Finally the courtroom scene from above. Picard at his best. People talk about the "there it sits" line, but equally intense was the moment just before that, the whole "what is he?" part. When he turned around and separately asked Riker and Louvois "Do you (know what he is)?", is also on the spine chilling side.

Love the Voyager theme:):).

Picard is teleporting Seven to assault a target, she goes with a phaser rifle lock and loaded. I hope he doesn't send her into a suicide mission though as I look forward to more Seven scenes...

I love how Seven saw right through Picard when he tried to claim that he felt as if he had fully regained his humanity after being rescued from the collective. The, "oh really?" look she gave him was perfect.

Even if they've never met before, of course they would be aware of each other for no other reason than their shared experience as part of the Borg collective. It seems kind of weird thinking about two people bonding with each other over something as horrific as that experience. And when Picard was finally honest with both himself and her, this exchange...

"No. But we're both working on it, aren't we?"
"Every damn day of my life."

...was particularly well played and effective.

And I did hear some hints of the Voyager theme right there at the end, didn't I? :)
