Spoilers The Flash - Season 6

As much as I enjoyed the episode, this was my biggest draw back. It feels like since the show came back there hasn't been nearly enough Flash for my liking. It's like the writers told their lead characters in Arrow and Flash that they could take some time off. Now I know Crisis was a big crossover event, but I wonder what the scheduling was like taken into account that they did have over a month off from Crisis III to the midseason premiere. Hopefully with the return of Grodd next week, it will be a pretty Barry heavy episode.

Other than that, I really enjoyed this episode last night. Much better than the previous week and they nailed the casting of Sue. The only familiarity I have with Sue is a podcast that I listen to has been talking about her a lot and I really loved the chemistry between Ralph and Sue. I'm looking forward to seeing her return. I also liked the reveal at the end with the new Mirror Master. So far in the last 3 years this has been my favorite arc since the show came back from the midseason break. I hope they can keep it up.
 
Actually, I will admit that Ralph and Sue had more chemistry than any other couple in the Arrowverse and it was just one episode. She was great, though wasn't a big fan of her being a quasi-villain.

Yeah, but it takes months to produce an episode (it probably varies from show to show, but I read once that on Star Trek: The Next Generation it typically took 11 weeks from story outline to finished episode), and they want to accumulate a backlog so they have leeway if they fall behind. So most of these episodes were probably filmed last year. The crossovers are such huge, complex productions that they tend to overlap with the filming of multiple regular episodes both before and after, so you often see episodes light on the lead actor even weeks after the crossover is done. Note that Sara was mostly missing from this week's Legends too.
 
Well, this last episode felt like a Season 4 episode, and since that is easily the worst season of the Flash, that's not a good thing. Once again something related to the Elongated Man gets completely fucked up. I don't know why the writers hate the actual Elongated Man so much, but between assigning his name/powers to a corrupt piece of shit "investigator" and assigning the name of his wife to a shitty Catwoman ripoff, they really will just take any opportunity to take a dump on what are, in the (pre-Identity Crisis era) comics, a pretty fun pair of characters.

Also, evil Iris is shit, Barry has spent most of this season being useless, and there isn't nearly enough Wells.
 
Is the “John Loring is trying to kill me” bit a nod to the Jean Loring killed Sue or just a coincidence? (I suspect the former)
 
Why does the world have any objects from the multiverse if nobody on Earth Prime has ever visited the multiverse (only having memories of such trips from their lives in the previous universe)? It's not like we can just write off Harry Wells' journal and the interdimensional extrapolators to left-over timeline craziness because those timelines never existed in this universe. Or are we to assume the Harry Wells journal is from the Earth Prime Wells and that Cisco either recreated the interdimensional extrapolator from memory or had some reason to build a nonworking one in the past?

Also, what were Nash Wells' memories before getting his pre-crisis memories back? Is he somehow the Wells of Earth Prime (despite Thawne), or is he really from another Earth and just doesn't remember how he got to Earth Prime due to the memory override?
 
I am suspecting all these multiverse artifacts surrounding our characters have something to do with their connection to the Crisis. Somehow they dragged others into the new multiverse (Beth) or have remained on Earth Prime (Nash) even though they weren't supposed to be there naturally.

I have a theory that it is a set up for the appearance of Jean Loring. Is Routh's departure from Legends a means to bring him into the Flash storyline next season?

Jean Loring already exists in the Arrowverse, played by Teryl Rothery. She was the Queen family's attorney on Arrow, first seen in season 2 (back when they were taking names from the comics and using them for only vaguely similar characters) and brought back in seasons 6-7. Because of that, Ray Palmer's late wife was renamed Anna Loring (no apparent relationship).

Yeah, but it's a multiverse shaped in part by Oliver Queen's desires and wishes. He resurrected a bunch of his dead friends and family -- why would he erase his own lawyer from existence and replace her with a different person?

And again, they already dealt with Ray Palmer's wife by renaming her Anna Loring. If they were going to use Crisis to resurrect a love interest for Ray, it would presumably be Anna.
 
I watched last week's episode this morning, and I loved the introduction of Sue, she was a lot of fun. I was very curious what she was going to be like after all of the build up, and she did not disappoint.
I'm not quite sure what to make of Iris and Eva being trapped in the Mirror World. I'm just hoping they don't drag it on for to long, this is the kind of story line that can be OK for a few episodes, but can very old very quickly.
 
This whole Iris plot is getting old. As is the cheaper guest stars taking the place of the expensive regulars. Yes I understand the show is in year 6 but still they used to write it in better and have it be less obvious.
 
Best episode of the season and one of the best episodes of the series. That was incredible. If We get stuff like that even half the time, I might change my mood and hope Flash does continue for a while. I think the last time I was this excited after a Flash episode was season 1. Well done Eric Wallace and Crew.
 
Biggest complaint this week was Chester. He has had such a minimal impact on the show that I forgot all about him and it took awhile for me to even remember what he did. He might even be more annoying than the members of Team Citizen. The last thing this show needs is MORE characters to develop stories for. And really? At the rate they are going, more people will know that Barry is than won't know.
 
There seems to be a theme of villain reforms this week. Supergirl had Mr. Mxyzptlk reforming and doing "community service," now The Flash has Grodd facing his guilt and turning over a new leaf. (Plus we had Astra taking a small step toward potential redemption on Legends, though Alice's apparent redemptive moment in Batwoman was a ploy and there was nothing fitting the theme on Black Lightning.) Kind of a nice way to address the theme of the post-Crisis changes -- Barry has to open his mind to the possibility that Grodd isn't who he was, even though it wasn't Crisis itself that changed Grodd. Well, it sort of did, in bringing Gorilla City to Earth-1 and giving him a desire to return home.

But it's ironic that Crisis reset Pied Piper to villainy, after the first major timeline rewrite, Flashpoint, turned him from villain into ally.

The CGI artists love doing new things to show off when they do Grodd episodes. Last time it was Grodd vs. King Shark, now it's Grodd-Flash, the Fastest Gorilla Alive. That was pretty cool.

Meanwhile, it's no surprise that Mirror Iris is apparently an offshoot of Eva/Mirror Master. I was starting to suspect that Eva was manipulating the real Iris. But I wonder, is she really a villain, or just desperate to get revenge on Black Hole for what they did to her? Maybe she's still redeemable. Then again, given that she's billed as a regular, maybe she's the Big Bad for the post-Crisis part of the season.

When Barry couldn't find his parents' graves, I wondered if it was going to turn out that they were alive again, or maybe merged with Jay and Joan Garrick, their Earth-3 doppelgangers. I mean, if Oliver could bring his loved ones back, why couldn't Barry?

Who cares about cost? It served the story to put Barry in a situation where he was without his familiar team, since it was about him learning to accept change and let go of the past. Besides, this show has gone through routine changes in its supporting cast all along. Heck, two years ago, Ralph was the new guy, and now I'm seeing articles saying he should get his own spinoff.

I also think this would be a terrific idea. Barry is still Barry, and he became Flash in the timeline where his mother was not murdered, so unlike Oliver, Barry's parents' deaths didn't affect Barry the same way.

The big change in such a scenario would be he never would have lived with Joe, but given that in the comics, he still ended up with Iris, even that isn't a big deal. It would have thrown the series into a very interesting loop.
