Which is why Star Trek is set on space ships, space stations and regions away from the Utopia.I have a problem with the whole Utopia concept in Trek in general becuse Utopia is a boring concept to me
Fair point. I was just always struck by how dumbfounded Kirk was with cash in ST4. How many weeks did spend in the Depression? He handled cash in City.I think by "no money" they meant no cash. Which was still a very futuristic concept at the time, as most business was still done with it at the time.

There was a 20 year gap. I have not handled cash for 2 years, when I do receive notes and coins I hardly recognise them, they all look fake to me.

Money. Figure out how your future economy works, please. There's explicitly no money in some episodes, explicitly money in others. TNG and DS9 made it crystal clear there's no money
Chang was a renegade, likely kept the schematics hidden and secret, possibly aboard the BoP itself. In which case, they went boom along with him.Why didn’t the Klingons mass produce General Chang’s BOP?

The novel has it being a one off prototype that couldn't be reproduced easily. And Azetbur didn't want to pursue it.They were caught while using their first one, and the technology was exposed - and who says that after the fact they didn't? After TUC is wide open territory.
Why? If it looks like a BOP and quacks like a BOP. It's a BOP.
That's TNG's fault. TOS has nothing to do with TNG, which was a re-imagining of the Trek universe. As in inconstant with TNG not itself, "Gene's Vision" is always very inconstant
I dunno, that sounds about right for government work.Plus, the Enterprise figured out how to detect it anyway, reducing its value.
"Hey, let's mass-produce that ship with the highly detectable exhaust that was destroyed in its first real battle."
