Nitpicky Things that just get on your nerves

Things that get on my nerves, you ask??

Fair point. I was just always struck by how dumbfounded Kirk was with cash in ST4. How many weeks did spend in the Depression? He handled cash in City.

There was a 20 year gap. I have not handled cash for 2 years, when I do receive notes and coins I hardly recognise them, they all look fake to me.

It is my theory that almost every TOS episode happens in a separate alternate universe from almost every other TOS episode. Only a few TOS episodes are sequel to other TOS episodes and thus in the same timeline. So possibly Kirk doesn't remember City on the Edge of Forever in ST4 because City on the Edge of Forever never happened in the alternate universe of ST4.

In DS9 when they kept going on about saving the Alpha Quadrant when most of the known space is in the Beta. Voyager as well did that as well but I can let it slide since they were initially lost in the Alpha Quadrant.

- I never liked that the phase-pistol in Enterprise used a phaser stream. Should have been plasma burst, like what was the case for the MACOs.

- As much as I loved In A Mirror, Darkly, the main characters on ENT should have been a split between their prime universe personas and mirror universe personas from the beginning. I get that Starfleet would want to put their best foot forward, especially with Vulcans watching over them after previously holding their warp program back for so long, but the characters were too clean and perfect.

- Why didn’t the Klingons mass produce General Chang’s BOP? Unless there’s a treaty that prevents that and I’m just not aware of it. Even if the Federation eventually developed technology to detect cloaked ships, the Klingons could have been using these BOPs (especially in combat) for the time being.

- Bridge Crew beaming down to perform dangerous missions instead of having a dedicated tactical squad like the MACO's in Enterprise.

- Bridge on top of the shop instead of the centre

- The Entire Mirror universe. Ugh just kill this concept please, it always just comes off as Teenage Emo's girl Fanfiction.net story. It makes no sense anyway, entirely different circumstances would lead to an entirely different universe with completely different characters.

Money. Figure out how your future economy works, please. There's explicitly no money in some episodes, explicitly money in others. TNG and DS9 made it crystal clear there's no money

Capital and Currency are two very different things. A proper Socialist society would still have Currency in the form of Labour or Energy vouchers something like that

I'll post the ol' chestnut standbys of:

  • How often Kirk simply nags a computer into self-destructing, complete with pyrotechnics. Real pretty ones.
  • Having to make excuses every time the 1701 or 1701-D beams out someone despite having the shields up. Oops.
  • Seeing in TNG models to TOS ships, typically in season one.
  • Starships with no fuseboxes or circuit breakers, so when the BOP hits an aft section the entire bridge lights up like Fourth of July fireworks...
  • Or seat belts, it's amazing how few cases of whiplash exist... much less paralysis from being thrown over the bridge railing backward
  • Always the most senior officers beam down (but as some episodes have shown, the newbies get killed right away cuz they're dumb and the show can't nix all of the ship's complement of 430 so quickly...)

That said, it sure all is dramatic and fun to watch...

They were caught while using their first one, and the technology was exposed - and who says that after the fact they didn't? After TUC is wide open territory.
The novel has it being a one off prototype that couldn't be reproduced easily. And Azetbur didn't want to pursue it.
