I bet you do! As for noticing it, I'm a Scotty fan - he's my favorite character - so I always found it strange that he wasn't around for two such important adventures. He had a great (and often fun) relationship with Spock and I would have loved to see him interact with Sarek, Amanda or T'Pau.

Sorry for stealing your next two clues. :( By the way, I think AOY might also count as Scotty being discussed but not shown - but of course he is heard.

True, bot not quite the same as Scotty is still present in the episode, if off screen. What I find particularly interesting about AT and JTB is that they're rare examples of Star Trek having a broader awareness of its characters' existence. To put it a different way, when a character is not present in an episode it generally feels like they just don't exist within the context of that episode (at least that's how it seems to me). These two episodes are clear exceptions to that, as is That Which Survives, where Kirk mentions Chekov, who does not appear in the episode. In that case Chekov's mention was a nod to him being in an earlier draft of the script, but for some reason they replaced him with Sulu. As far as I know, those are the only three times this happens. Are you aware of any others? Huh, that might be a good topic for another thread: "Mentioned but not seen" or something like that.

Scotty missing the Vulcan episodes has always resonated with me as well! But he was also strangely absent from The Omega Glory too where Sulu is in command of the Enterprise! So when Sulu beams down at the end who is in charge of the ship? Uhura?

Could be, along with the very few recursive references to the events of other episodes - TWS has another of those, too, to DITD and also in Sulu dialogue. Not sure about references to characters who don't appear other than the three you mentioned.

I've always thought that was a relic of OG being an older script that predated Scotty's expanded role, like around the Arena era when Scotty is on the ship but "Sulu is an experienced combat officer" according to Spock (a cool line) and he makes the decision to warp out of orbit. Ditto EOM when Scotty does not appear at all and Sulu is leading the Enterprise-headed fleet at the end.

At the end of OG, JB, is one of those times I have figured that Uhura was in command but it frustratingly wasn't shown. :( Perhaps Scotty was on vacation or having a "wee bout of shore leave."

References to other episodes are also made in By Any Other Name and The Turnabout Intruder.

    Yeah no problem!

    Clue # 2
In these two episodes, the end-of-teaser music is also the same.

So far we've identified three episodes he speaks in:
    The Naked Time
    This Side of Paradise
    The Conscience of the King
    Which is the fourth?

I'm pretty sure it's alternative Factor but I don't have my list of episodes actors nearby.
It might be when Kirk orders lazarus's ship to be destroyed. I'm going to check when I get home

Grant is correct. At the end of AF, he says 3 lines:

    “Phaser banks activated.”
    “Phasers standing by, sir.”
    “Warp one, sir.”

Ohhhhh yeah. I think he's also spotted in the command chair in one scene also. That is just an unnnnnusual episode.

MF, I got nothin'. This must be a good one. Will wait for wiser posters.

Mr. Leslie’s probably thinking...”Boy, now that I’ve sat in the Captain’s Chair there’s no way that I’ll suffer the fate of other red shirts.”

Actually everybody who's sits in the command chair is granted at least one reprieve from death. Kirk Spock and Scotty all sat in the command chair -- all died or seemed dead but were miraculously revived. And so it was for mr. Leslie who sat in the command chair then died in Obsession and returned in 15 more episodes after that. The only thing was they didn't make a big deal out of his return. It's a wonder that more random Bridge crew members didn't jump into the seat when Kirk was out of it just to be granted immortality

Actually The Squire of gothos supports the theory that Leslie had a twin brother aboard the ship! In Squire of gothos mr. Leslie is handling the transporter when Kirk and Company are beamed back up from Trelayne's sitting room they rush for the turbolift and when they arrive on the bridge mr. Leslie is already in the command chair ahead of them!

    Here's another clue...

    Clue # 3
The stock planet is also the same in both episodes.
