Joker Origin Story Announced

No, not really. Not for anything you’ve managed to post on the subject.

Still waiting on how Phoenix's interpretation is somehow better than John Travolta's in "The Fanatic". Especially seeing how Phoenix used so many easy ways out for his performance.

Yep, typical "Academy Friendly" stuff like losing weight and choosing an easy condition like laughing at random as opposed to anything authentic and therefore "Risky" for him. So many easy ways out he chose instead of putting real effort in.

Whereas Travolta didn't take the easy way out in how a mentally ill man would look and act.

Again, no.

Indeed. You know he's tearing his own hair out because none of those grand MCU performances such as Brolin as Thanos were ignored. After all, "...that was the greatest, most awesome moment of acting EVERRRR!! It was EPIC!!"

Nah, I knew that they'd be ignored. Same reason Andy Serkis never got proper recognition for his work as Gollum.

Joker really got in your head. :guffaw:

I wouldn't mind it if anyone bothered pointing out that it's a lesser film than something intelligence like "Falling Down".

Why do you care at all? It is a movie, whether or not one is better than another is up to the individual viewer. You, nor I, nor anyone else here is the final arbiter of what is good.

I enjoyed Joker, but this thread would’ve died a long time ago without your incessant whining.

I'm worried this will trigger a new wave of "In Name Only" adaptations like the Halle Berry Catwoman movies, after all the hard work put into CBMs that aren't ashamed of themselves anymore.

As long as Marvel movies are making money, they will continue to be made. Your fear of the TrekBBS taking over Hollywood is unwarranted.

Honestly, who cares whether they keep making Marvel movies? The superhero thing will subside eventually in any event. Most people are too young to remember the near absolute pop culture dominance of the American Western for several decades. In a less technologically sophisticated entertainment environment that genre satisfied much of the same audience appetites that superhero movies do now.

It was as weak as the previous comment, I expect better snark and world-weariness.
Not going to argue the previous comment was a masterpiece of snarky world weariness (though it was quite correct on substance), but sorry—not much is weaker than “OK Boomer” as a retort.
