Well, we get an answer what everyone thinks she is in the latest episode. What she really is, is still up to debate...

She's a Terminator Model 2267. Come with her if you want to prevent Synths from living.

She is a Romulan/Vulcan hybrid who has the ability to mind meld. She implanted suggestions into the cybernetics expert while on her lunch break. She is in effect, brainwashed. Her goal is to stop the destroyer from starting a new Borg Collective using Maddox research.

The “light” and “dark” on the card shows the two eventual outcomes when species get this close to creating a perfect clone of their race.

One of them is a example of when society does it correctly. The synths were sabotaged by the “dark” agent. Hence the Romulan with the cards asking “which one are you.” One is when it’s done incorrectly, and inevitably Borg are created. Borg are seeking the perfection that was denied to them. They assimilate species in a futile attempt to reach the perfection of a perfect synth that is indistinguishable from the species that created them.

Or she’s just a Mirror Universe Vulcan stirring shit up in the prime universe because she’s ‘eeeeeevilllll!!!!!’ Why else would she be wearing dark glasses for no reason, unless it was just for some silly effect.

Either that, or she’s Mirror Universe Georgie “Oh” in disguise returned from the 33rd century.

Oh I really hope not although it would explain the sunglasses.

Oh dear.

We know Vulcans have inner eyelids, which would make sunglasses unnecessary. Indeed, I think T'Pol even says something to that effect on Enterprise. But do Romulans have inner eyelids? Would they have been away from Vulcan long enough that evolution did away with it, since it wasn't necessary anymore?

What if the lie goes deeper.

What if the Romulans and Vulcans are actually both sub species, a lot depends on exactly when this AI event happened, before, during or after the schism that caused the Romulans to leave.

Perhaps it goes all the way back to Sargon and his people, and their explorations of the galaxy. Spock did say that would explain certain irregularities in Vulcan pre-history, or something like that.

She is the first Vulcan or Romulan in the PU to be seen wearing them that I can recall.

Then again why wouldn't the Commodore get her eyes fixed if she lives on Earth, perhaps that would give the game away if they look at her too closely, or maybe they are not ordinary sun glasses.

Vulcan's have inner eyelids and live on a harsh desert world. I recall in ENT, Archer wearing sunglasses and T'Pol explaining she didn't need them (or was it that she didn't need water? It's been forever)

Soooooo she's a Romulan.

Although Laris is outside in the bright sunshine at the chateau and never wears glasses. I know that doesn't necessarily mean anything but we know she's Romulan and doesn't wear sunglasses outside.

My guess: this is the writers' clumsy and not-very-subtle way of letting us know she's Romulan and the final reveal will only be surprising to the main characters.

Yeah probably, however if she is MU there will probably be a riot.

Had this theory come to me in a dream.
She is from Kelvin universe circa 2380s where Vulcan has long been destroyed and it has always been widely known that a Romulan was responsible. Somehow she managed to transfer to Prime Universe and sabotaged the Romulan rescue fleet out of revenge. :techman:
The more I think about it, the more I like this theory. And it’s a way to bridge the two universes together as well.
