Yeah, I hated the Spider-man movies. In no small part because of the cheese factor. I mean, at the very least, Dr. Strange 2 won't have Tobey Maguire and will have Cumberbatch and Olsen who are already excellently cast, but I really hope if he does sign on that he doesn't go full blast on his usual brand of humor.
The sequels got cheesy? - "It's you who's out, Gobby... out of your mind!" - "You mess with one of us [New Yorkers], you mess with all of us!" - "When Mary Jane got out of the car, and you saw her for the first time, you grabbed my hand and said, 'Aunt May, Aunt May, is that an angel?'" SM1 is cheesy AF.
Bruce Campbell should play Ash and make the "Evil Dead" part of the MCU. Maybe that is one of the dimensions he goes to. Jason
I for one hope it happens. Big Raimi fan. Not all of his films are winners, but I like a lot of them and love a few.
Inspired choice. I was actually thinking of the Doctor Strange name-drop in Spider-Man 2 the other day, for some reason.
Damn, that really sucks. I'm one of the few defenders of Christine's role but I was hoping they would expand on their relationship in the sequel. I guess this means we'll be seeing Cleo.
Well, Palmer's role in Strange's life was basically over in the first movie. No point in dragging it out.
Oh! I'm optomistic on this.. I like his Horror movies, Drag me to Hell was quite good! I don't know why the original director left.. have to read up.. But happy they got someone like Sam.. though he hasn't directed for awhile..
This would work. Or Jameson again at least. Actually I think it would also be funny if he went to another Asgard and had Thor talking to Kevin Sorbo's Hercules. Lucy Lawless could even reprise her "Agents of Shield" character. At some point we got to see the Evil Dead car of course. Jason
The MCU, including the first Dr. Strange movie,* contains more than enough cheese for Raimi to fit right in. *I loved it.
The female lead who’s also a love interest is always a weak role IMO Rachel would be wasted or they’d have to make a crucial plot point like Natalie Portman
That was my first thought as well. Definitely disappointed to lose Rachel McAdams either way, I liked her in the first one.
That should be "Now who will Bruce and Sam's brother be playing?" Since J Jonah Jameson is in the MCU now I wonder if we'll get a cameo.
Scott Derrickson approves of the choice... https://mobile.twitter.com/scottder...sam-raimi-to-direct-the-doctor-strange-sequel
The editor-in-chief at Newsarama has a crazy theory that that might actually be the case. In his defense, he acknowledges it as a crazy theory. https://www.newsarama.com/48939-cra...ow9bA6f5hpYno9e59dYpai-qBERzPlBqJatIqJ8KZXCzI
Great choice although I'm surprised Rami would be interested in directing another marvel film as studio interference is what led to Spider-man 3 and Rami leaving Spider-man 4. I can't imagine he will have much free reign here. The intentional cheesiness never really bothered me. It's no Darkman... What I liked with Rami is that he portrayed Spider-man's powers in a visually interesting way. Something the marvel movies lack. I'm in.
