I get the point they were making with the receptionist not recognizing Picard, but it did seem weird. Especially since he just did a controversial interview that was presumably broadcast throughout the Federation.

Maybe he was acting dumb, after all, he is part of the organization that Picard just threw under the bus. I have trouble seeing many people in the days after the interview being excited to see Picard.

I kept thinking that there may have been some form of scanner upon entering to identify him, as well?

Could just be protocol.

One thing that intrigues me a little, is the story for how Picard keeps his off the records communicator. In its little box. It has a real feel of ‘and if you ever need to get in touch...’ because it’s clearly not a Starfleet signal he’s using, because that would be silly.

He learned from Spock how to take 3 communicators and make one that works. But I was wondering this too, about the communicator.

I don't see a receptionist going that far, and taking it so personally.

That was a strange line. It’s not a phone.

See that square-ish icon next to a house icon? I use that to "Save" a document in the latest Office 2019 version of Word.
For those that don't know, this icon represent a "floppy disk" which hasn't been widely used for about 20 years by now. ;)

Don't hang up, click on the floppy disk icon. People stick to their traditions for a very very long time.

I can imagine the 'Save' icon will continue to be depicted as a floppy disk well into the 24th century as well.

Seriosly @SJGardner, this is not the first time this happened ;)

I doubt that, or we would have represented it with a pair of hands holding a chisel and a hammer in front of a slab of stone...

Twenty years is by no means a very very long time. I don't think it even qualifies as a long time. Do road signs still picture horse carriages or have we moved on to cars and trucks?
