I know you've been here a month now so you're a pretty big deal, but you may want to look at these: https://www.trekbbs.com/rules/ There was already a thread for the characters of Picard, you can easily discuss there........as for TNG characters after 30 plus years sure, they get their own.
Characters can only have their own threads if the actor appeared in Karate Kid once upon a time. Because that’s relevant.
Oh has actually appeared on screen and there are many things to discuss about her. Calm down a bit..........
Yeah I'm new here. I have to apologize for that in every thread? So you just didn't want me starting new threads? That seems what your emphasizing the problem is? So this is about taking me down? It wasn't about me, it was about having individual place to discuss the new characters. Why are you making it about me? Yeah i know, this is where most of my posts are. And it's frustrating seeing the new characters all lumped in one. Especially with such a bias towards only celebrating the older ones. There is discussion of the others too. It's just all being lumped here (and now even more so) .
I encouraged you to read the rules that spell out why the threads were merged. Which it seems you still haven’t. There’s some great info in there which should help you now and in the future.
They’re discussing Heroes in the other thread. Santiago Cabrera was the junkie artist in Heroes! Perhaps this will get Rios his own thread? As long as we don’t actually discuss Picard I think we’re safe.
Well that's just it, I started a thread for Cabreras, so people could discuss his previous work. My next post was going to be images and thoughts on several of the characters he's played in the past. As he's expressed some anxiety over "latin" character cliches. And what he's doing differently here with Rios. I don't want it lost here.
http://blog.trekcore.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/103-rios.jpg https://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/epics/PIC-S1/S1E3/PIC-S1E3-11.jpg So that really is him playing both? That's hysterical. Also the latest interview with Cabreras , he describes his character as a loner - "happy to be in his own company" That really adds a whole new hysterical dimension to that statement LOL!
If you keep posting about it, it will hardly "get lost here". Several folks (including me) are following your posts. Also, a friendly tip... it's not wise to fool with the Mods around here...
Some new insight into Michelle Hurd on her character Raffi Musiker Michelle Hurd- "She's been a spy, .... probably one of the most intelligent creatures when it comes to science, mathematics" I guess I thought she was more being set up as the hired gun type of the new misfit crew, but she's clearly more his tech and espionage character. Image above, I imagine is in her "hideaway" she's likely the one best to help him track Maddox. Also we know she's the one who brings in Rios.
https://jazzdagama.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/Che-Guevara-with-a-cigar.jpg It's funny to me some superficially try and dismiss this character as another derivative Han Solo, Logan, or Mal Reynolds, cigar chomping "lone smuggler" cliche, yet in doing so they kind of reveal their own superficial and tiny frame of reference. A greater template for this character type, can be somewhat seen in Hemingway's Cuba era Have and Have not smuggler character (played by Bogie) : Harry Morgan; fishing boat captain, once honest working-man forced into the black-market and running contraband, and based on his real life friend Gregorio Fuentes, who with Hemingway used his own ship La Pilar, in smuggling at times arms and liqueur, "unofficially" officially patrolling against Natzi U-Boats through the Caribbean. Character type which predates (and somewhat influenced) all those derivatives they list. (as well as for better or worse obvious visual parallels to Che Guevara.) My guess Chabon in developing and Cabreras are likely more channeling this larger character type (his ship, motives, pathos), as visual source, and character analogue, for the consequently familiar Rios. Or if you really want to go back to an original misfit crew and Odyssey , the template is easily those who encountered and tangled with La Sirena (The Sirens) of myth. As depicted (symbolically) tied to his own mast - https://www.trekbbs.com/threads/la-sirena.302506/ I like his line in the new "meet the characters" video: Rios [to Picard -OK Admiral, hire me, or find another pilot, ...do not try and get inside my head" I think this is where the most tension in Picard's new misfit (not comfortable and familiar Starfleet) crew will be. Rios will be the hardest to like (but whose allegiance could be most satisfying for it) , and Picard is going to need to break him down.
[QUOTE="Mondragon, post: 13246022, member: 79311" I like his line in the new "meet the characters" video: Rios [to Picard -OK Admiral, hire me, or find another pilot, ...do not try and get inside my head" .[/QUOTE] FYI As well as the Rios playing football/soccer Are from the Meet The New Characters vid-
Also the first shots of Elnor's all female (lets pretend we're not the Bene Gesserit) sect And Elnor as a kid. Besides being Picard's personal and loyal body guard. (I'm curious to see how that plays out, i'm assuming it has to do with the sword fight that's been teased, brings Elnor to being his protector) Seems like part of his personality will be, due to his species roots and upbringing, he'll not have a filter on what he just matter-of-factly thinks and therefore says "the truth". Which could be used to humorously expose the tension among the human crew.
Another pic of Picard and Raffi in their USS Verity uniforms. Mostly that these exist, has me excited that we'll be getting flashbacks to Picard as Admiral And on mission upon the USS Verity ship Which should have the more traditional ship oriented viewers very excited!
why is it always the collars that look weird/too big? They stop teaching that skill to the costumers or something?
It's beginning to look like the "prequel" storyline where we meet baby Elnor is the same as this one with Raffi.
Great insightful catch! So Picard (and Raffi) would have previously met the young Elnor, while serving on USS Verity, as part of their evacuation rescue plans for the dispersed Romulan civilizations. And if Picard had helped save Elnors sect in the past, may explain the fierce loyally displayed by Elnor now. i'm actually really looking forward to these flashback scenes. I really liked the dynamic established between Picard and Raffi in the comics as they served together on the Verity (Obviously that dynamic is somewhat changed now LOL! ..and she lets him know it!) Yet that we get to see some of that previous relationship in flashbacks on the show, is great! And obviously Picard as Admiral on a Federation ship! Also that the same scenes will include a young Elnor, really brings it all together.
