Spoilers Acid Spitting?!

Some people may well be avoiding the Picard forum because they can't watch it for whatever reason (poor internet etc) and are waiting for the dvds

On the forum list though the threat titles pop up on the right side

"Romulan Acid Spiting" could well be a big spoiler, not as much as "Dahj didn't last long" of course, but it's better safe than sorry

She's obviously never been to see a doctor or had a medical scan............;-)
Well, if Data’s “mother” could fool scanners ;)
Oh and by the way we have no idea how old she is. She may just have been “born” very recently and really has never been to a doctor.

I dunno, I got the impression we were supposed to take it like Replicants. That is, an android that appears human in almost every way. If it's just robots that look human, that's not much to write home about. She received a very human facial wound, which responded to a device made to fix human(oid) wounds, I'm assuming they are very human until the show tells me otherwise. :)

I don´t remember the episode to well...but wasn´t there some kind of device in Juliana Taylor that sent fake biosignals and stuff to sensors?

People seeing it out of context might think there's more to it than there is.

Uhhh... Okay. Guess it's been a while since I've been involved with an active show's forum and I forgot how easily bent out of shape people get over spoilers even when it's the smallest thing and doesn't really spoil anything since:

A) The Romulan doesn't actually "spit acid."
B) Knowing that a Romulan "spat acid" (question mark, I might add) doesn't really spoil anything about the story or details of the episode. I went out of way as much as possible in the OP to avoid giving the details of what happened before/after the incident other than the acid thing. So anyone seeing the title would just go, "Wait? A Romulan may have spat acid and he's not sure?"

So...

Feh.

Whatever.

Spoiler-Hurt. Watch-out for it, I guess.

Uh...something just occured to me! You might be onto something here. Maybe she´s really VERY human and only "a bit" android. An android brain in a mostly human body? More similar to a Borg then to a typical Soong-Type Android? Hmm...and seeing that we already HAVE Borg in the story. What if Borg-Technology was used (in part) to create her?

Yes

LAFORGE: Basically she's a Soong-type android, except everything about her is designed to fool you into thinking she's human.
CRUSHER: She's got tear ducts, sweat glands, even veins and capillaries underneath her skin.
RIKER: Why does the scanner read her as a human?
CRUSHER: Because she has a feedback processor designed to send out a false bio-signal.
LAFORGE: It's part of her aging programme. Not only does she age in appearance like Data, her vital signs change too.

....

SOONG: Truth? The truth is, in every way that matters, she is Juliana Soong. I programmed her to terminate after a long life. Let her live out her days, and die believing she was human. Don't rob her of that, son. Please.

And this is why I think that Dahj is not dead but got beamed away by somebody, covered up by the explosion. I can´t remember where...but it was mentioned somewhere that Data´s "outer shell" can only be really damaged by a nuclear explosion or something with even more energy. If Dahj is basically an more advanced version of the "Susanna Taylor"-model, then she has an organic "outside" over a regular Soong-Type android body.
If you watch the scene in slow motion you can start to see her skeleton before the explosion covers the entire frame

LIke @BillJ I had no trouble with the scene......you can see it and hear a POP......then the acid ate her skin and clothing and finally caused the rifle to become unstable. I was shocked to see so many people confused. Maybe if you watch on a phone or tablet it would be hard to see. :adore:
It's a good thing Dahj took Picard up the stairs before her death; imagine the kind of death and destruction that rifle could've done if the thing exploded on the first floor.

Why make her inferior to data? Givin a " human" body that can be desolved by cyanide is a big step backwards..
Closer and closer to cylons. Which I don't like at all.

The scene to was a wtf is happening?

The implication is that she's a flesh and blood synthetic human, indistinguishable from a human being, aside from her superhuman abilities.

All Data ever wanted to be was human. For some reason.

We never spent much time with Data post-emotion chip to get his thoughts on the matter. While he was still "tempted" by the flesh given to him by the Borg queen and by her efforts to make him "partly" human, I'll bet he was pretty happy that he finally got to have emotions while keeping his kickass android body.
