We don't know how many people live on Romulus and Remus. Yes, one would presume that the Romulan Star Empire is home to billions, maybe even trillions, of individuals, just like the Federation. But the homeworlds themselves could only support a considerably smaller number. A supernova isn't going to wipe out the whole Empire, only a single star system. (It may threaten others with gamma rays, provided they are within a few lightyears, but there may not be any systems that close to Romulus.) So all of this seems perfectly reconcilable with canon.

Let's just hope that Remus was destroyed, no one bothered to rescue any Remans and we'll never, ever speak of them again.

Not even sure I'd go that far. Journalistic technique changes from country to country, and decade to decade. I agree that this reporter seemed very determine from the start to steer the conversation to a certain goal, but that doesn't make her a bad reporter. It just means she's determined to get the story she thinks the public wants. We view it negatively, since we like JL. On the other hand, if this was a reporter who was interviewing Trump and insisted on talking about the fact that he's a Russian puppet instead of only about the fact that he's a genius as he would prefer, I would praise her for it.

But she also shifts gears between talking about the synths and talking about the armada so caprciously that it's actually hard to follow the conversation for a moment. And she also doesn't give Picard enough room to answer. Those are both bad jouranlistic techniques.

If Kurtzman had anything to do with this, he’s redeemed himself in my eyes. If he didn’t, I hope he stays away going forward, too. Either way, they should just keep doing what they’re doing.

Kurtzman is the Kevin Feige of Star Trek.

I got to say, I thought this was going to be a train wreck (it could still be overall) and was against it when first announced. Having said that, I thought "Remembrance" was an excellent opener (I don't really consider it a pilot as so much of it depends on the recurring storylines from TNG).

There was so much fan service there, but it felt like it was done more with love than corporate profits in mind. The story itself seems like a natural outgrowth of TNG and the other 24th century shows.

Is it next Thursday yet?

92000 people were killed during the attack. Total desctruction of the Utopia and the Mars facility. I dont expect they would have too many survivors.

Im surprised they havent revealed Geordi's fate yet but it clearly does not look very good . His dead wouldve been another tragedy for Picard and another cause of the major guilt he has carried through his retirement.

I do wonder if Geordie had died if that is something the interviewer would have brought up. "Admirical, your ex-chief engineer died on Mars. Did that not make you think it was important to deal wit that situation?"

I never understood this. Why shouldn’t people bitch? In a fandom as large and diverse as Star Trek’s, the odds that everyone agrees about everything are none. Naturally, differences of opinion will arise and lead to strong emotions. That’s human nature. Airing those differences on a Star Trek forum? Heaven forbid! What should we be talking about? Who the actors are dating? Come on. Bitching is half the fun.
Not for the people who have to listen to it.

If Geordi's dead, I hope that comes into play in the future (maybe when Riker shows up?) and explored for all the pathos therein. Not just relegated to a comic book scene or two.

If Data does come back, in some form, I would think he would be pretty upset at the loss of his best friend.

We don't need to explore the fates of all Star Trek characters, but we have a few hints that should be settled on La Forge (who, again, should be central to a storyline involving Data restoration and synthetic beings... unless he's dead).
