Good start. Might need to rewatch it again but I really did enjoy that. Also, the show looks really good, but that is to be expected for a 2020 show. I'll need some time to think (And it's almost 12:30 AM) but I appreciated CBS All Access bringing it out around 11:30 PM my time.

How do I put this? This is Star Trek as a prestige drama. Even if you don't like Discovery, I still recommend Picard as these two shows are very different from each other.
Let me get one question out of the way: which one do I like better so far Discovery or Picard? I like them both for very different reasons. But Picard is most definitely in a class of its own. Give it a chance. To certain others I want to say: I mean give it a serious chance, not one where you're watching but you already made up your mind. Actually give it a chance. If you do, you won't be disappointed.

my first thought was this series might actually finally provide me with a romulan centric arc that Nemesis didn’t. That’s a good thing. There was no Klingon to be seen but we will get Romulans and Borg. That’s already working in the series favor for me.
Totally agree. The Romulans were always my favorite alien race and I always thought they were criminally underutilized.
that’s what I was thinking too watching it.
I got really emotional during the opening scene - way more than I expected to. The nostalgia feels seeing the E and Ten-Forward really hit hard.

Not sure. If he's been missing for a while, seems weird he'd end up at Chateau Picard. Plus the one line of dialogue seems more like a friend (Louis?) questioning whether Picard really wants to go back into space
Very, very nice. The dialogue was really solid, the whole episode was exceedingly cinematic and lush. I really, really want to see them maintain this.

I’m speechless. I really, truly enjoyed it. The cinematography, the acting, the pace (yay for conversations that don’t last 5 seconds!), the storyline. It’s rich, it’s complex, it’s new yet familiar. So far, I’m loving it. Chills on more than one occasion. I hope they can maintain the quality. And I agree that it’s easily the best first episode of any Trek.
