The other night, we were watching What's My Line, and this fellow was on it. It was getting on bedtime, so mom made our daughter turn it off halfway through, over loud dissent. "But... it's William Shatner!" To which I replied, "How can you be such a fan after an episode of The Twilight Zone and The Man from U.N.C.L.E.?"

Mom pointed out, "He is young and handsome..."

She made her turn it off anyway.

and I caught the James Garner flick, 36 hours (pretty good!) which had a "blink and you'll miss it" scene with Jimmy Doohan:

I had the opportunity to broadcast Peyton Place on KGJ. I decided there was already too much television to watch for one week -- you are welcome (nay, encouraged!) to contribute scenes, however!

I caught an episode a couple of days ago of a mid-season replacement, For the People, starring William Shatner as an assistant District Attorney. I can't say it's really grabbing me...

Sorry for the long hiatus! Despite the fact that I'm now watching more television these days, the airwaves have been curiously absent of Trek folk. That changed recently, especially now that it's rerun season on KGJ Channel 9.

First up, here's William Marshall (Dr. Daystrom) who played an African premier twice in a row:

I mentioned his appearance in 'Danger Man' in the 'Guest Actors In Surprising Roles' when I caught the episode on Charge TV. Looking at his IMDB biography, it looks like he did quite a few episodes for the BBC and ITV in the late 50s/early 60s.

He appeared in two episodes of Danger Man, both with Edric Connor strangely enough! Deadline was part of the half hour series of 1960-62 and The Galloping Major from the 1964-66 hour long episodes!

And, of course, Shatner is still in his attorney role in "For the People" -- this is from the May 2, 1965 episode (I think we're about to go to summer reruns)

Summer reruns have started, and an episode of The Man from UNCLE I missed the first time around was up today. It's originally from 10-04-64 and features Harry Mudd as a Yugoslav partisan and Leila Kalomi doing her best to seduce a seemingly emotionless man. Will things ever change?

Another week, another Man from UNCLE cameo -- I only caught the second half of this episode when it first aired October 13, 1964. This is from the summer rerun this week (the scene is from the beginning):

This, the fifth episode of Voyage to the Bottom the Sea, aired on October 12, 1964, but I missed it first time around. As you can see, it stars a couple of folks you might recognize:

but here was the real gem -- it's obscure, but there's a definite Trek connection:

Speaking of Cordwainer Bird, it looks like its first appearance in the wild as was the name of Sammy Davis Jr.'s character in an episode of Burke's Law penned by Ellison -- Bird was a schlocky humor columnist.

So, for today's pre-Trek finding, it gets pretty obscure! Lorelei is a huge Tony Randall fan, which is to say she has a massive crush on him. Thus, we're watching all of his films. One we caught last night was 1957's "Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?"

At the beginning is a sequence of ad spoofs, and look who is shilling shampoo!

Another interesting connection here was that David Opatoshu and Jill Ireland were in two episodes of TOS that followed each other!
