Clone Wars is returning!

Caleb Dume spotted @0:24!

Between the briefing scene dialog and the shot of an obviously pregnant Padme, clearly this will interweave much more closely with RotS than I suspected it might. I had presumed that once Anakin & Obi-Wan left to rescue the chancellor it'd stick with Ahsoka's perspective since Anakin seems to spend a week or so stuck on Coruscant before it all goes to hell, and all the while Obi-Wan is off hunting Grevious.

Also, seems as though Ahsoka will be on a Star Destroyer, in hyperspace when Order 66 goes down.

So it really is the final season. Going by the trailer I wonder if it's just one long arc focusing on the main characters only.

Finally! After all these years some proper Star Wars.
It’s a shame that we know how underwhelming Maul’s story eventually becomes. Sort of takes away from the trailer.

I don’t know why Disney insist this is the final season. What about all those unfinished episodes? I would love some sort of “what if” series with this animation style. Something that isn’t restricted to canon.

Maul doesn't have an arc, since that would imply character growth. What he has is a loop, in which he is perpetually stuck. He's the Sisyphus of Star Wars...The Sithyphus? ;)

I think it has less to do with Disney's insistence and more to do with Filloni wanting closure so he can move onto other projects.

I'm probably going to regret this but why? The ending isn't the most important part; it's how he got there. And Maul goes through some incredibly tragic things that make his ending even more tragic. Now, think about that. Maul starts out as a one note villain in TPM who dies . And then his story because a tragic one, of abuse and failed attempts at grasping for power and relevance.

Something that isn't restricted to canon. You said it. Disney wants to create new stuff that isn't mired in existing lore. I think we, the fans, will be better off with that anyway.

I think if the story is entertaining canon status should matter precisely zero.

Sweet! That's for pointing that out. I looked at that shot for a few seconds, and yeah, that's gotta be him.

A Star Wars Infinities animated series would be fun.

Anyways, brilliant trailer.

If they air 12 episodes weekly starting on February 21, the series would end on May 8.

That would be a fine week for Filoni to announce what comes next for animated SW, since Resistance and Clone Wars will then be done.

Oh for sure. I just imagine there will be less fan toxicity and axe grinding if new content focused on characters/events outside established, familiar environments. Or at least, it'll be different fan toxicity for a change.

I still think Maul should have stayed dead. But what can you do?
I think the same could be said about quite a lot of Star Wars characters, but damn did I enjoy seeing him come back.

The concept of his return goes way back to 2004 with Aarom McBride who did a comic with Maul in it called 'Old Wounds'. Maul comes back with a half robotic body like in Clone Wars and goes looking for Obi Wan.

If people demonstrate a willingness to buy it...thus far, I remain unconvinced that SW can move beyond the familiar.

I think the massive popularity of Ahsoka Tano (and maybe Thrawn too) is proof that SW fans are willing to embrace something new, if it's well-done.

That trailer was really good. I'm looking forward to see what Ashoka's doing, and it overall seems like its going to be packed with stuff. I'm not a huge fan of the art change (Ashoka looks ok, but everyone else looks noticeably different then in the rest of the show, and I don't just mean the slight design changes, the art style in general looks of), but its still 1000 times better then the cheap shit that is Rebels and especially Resistance's art styles.

Overall I'm really hyped for this, and I hope it sends the show off better then the last "last" season did (season 6 was really bad in my opinion).

Wow, that was an awesome trailer. Really looking forward to finally getting the full Siege of Mandalore story. Do we know how that arc is going to deal with the flashbacks from the Ahsoka novel. I haven't read it yet, so I don't know the details, but I do know it has some flashbacks to Mandalore.

It's not, it's three or four different arcs.
