Will We See Guinan

I just saw the invitation to Whoopi to come back, and I'm thrilled. Guinan's always been one of my favorite characters, and I'm really looking forward to seeing her again.
I think we've seen enough to know that the show will be focusing on it's new characters and plot, with the majority of the familiar faces, other than Seven and possibly Hugh, just popping up for an episode or two here and there.
This is Picard's show, set in a time where you can reasonably expect the majority of TNG characters to still be alive, so I think it makes sense for them to pop up from time to time.

There it is, for me. Give me Sela over Q, please and thank. Nothing against Mr. De Lancie. Everything against the character of Q.

De Lancie's acting is way, way better than Crosby's.

I know people claim she's come a long way since, but Denise Crosby was awful through basically all of her TNG appearances. Bad in Season 1. Okay in Yesterday's Enterprise, but overshadowed by Christopher McDonald as Castillo. Wooden in every single appearance as Sela.

Oh, I'm not claiming that de Lancie is not a good actor. As I stated, I do not care for the character of Q at all and would prefer to see Sela as a character than Q.

de Lancie is an excellent actor. Q is not an interesting character.

I'll take the Romulan.

We're not talking about a Romulan, we're talking about Sela. I think I'd rather drag Okona or Gorgan the Friendly Angel out of mothballs before Sela. She ended up ruining four episodes, wacky plans to destroy the Klingons/Federation that seemingly came straight from the playbook of Wile E. Coyote.
Omnipotent godlike being

And the Q aren't Godlike, simply more advanced and love theatrics.

Mileage will vary. I cannot stand Q and Sela is more engaging for me as a character. Q is like dividing by zero-you know what you're going to get. Sela is lesser known than Q and more of curiosity to me than any thing else.

Sela was also better written than Q ever was, who was very one dimensional. I mean, I know he is a fan favorite. But his only interesting episode was All Good Things...

That's a unique opinion, but then I love "The Omega Glory". So, you do you. :techman:

I guess whatever happens, I hope the new cast doesn't get tossed in the background for the nostalgia guest star of the week.

I'm glad this news is true. Guinan would be a good person for Picard to confide in like he originally did in the original TNG series on several occasions when he needed her guidance to make the right choices.

None of them are acting in a TV series that is supposed to engage me with the challenges of humanity.

I'll leave others to fill in the political joke wherever they like.

How we act when we have power over others is a challenge for humanity. Q is just a reflection of those that have control over others.
