That's damn beautiful. While watching the sportsball yesterday and this commercial came on and I caught a glimpse of the Galaxy Class (because I'm not sure it'd be the D), I audibly yelped. My wife, who does not share my affinity to Trek, yelled from the other room to ask what happened. I tried to explain but as soon as I said the words "Star Trek" she rolled her eyes and walked away.
"Oh, it's just that silly 'Star Track' thing he likes. Is that the one with the laser swords or the robots who want to kill everybody?" I get it from my wife too. It's universal...
It was Berman era Star Trek: - Vulcans are pacifists - The Federation doesn't seem to defend its Homeworlds at all (IE How many times has the Enterprise been the 'only ship in the Quadrant" when Earth is in danger - and you expect pacifist Vulcans to have a defense?) - Oh, and let's not forget those transports were travelling at Warp 1 - so yes, Vulcan MIGHT have been in danger in the next Century or two...
Agreed that we don't need tons of character returns and continuity references, though I think tying the two major AI rights issues together may seem pretty natural. Depending on how things play out, it may actually create bigger questions if they don't acknowledge it. Though hard to really say until we have a better idea of what the synth plot is and how it will play out.
Sela's the most realistic character in all of Star Trek. I'm serious. Hear me out. She failed upwards. There are too many people in positions they shouldn't be in because of this phenomenon. Or she was promoted to her level of incompetence. Once again, something all too real.
My wife has actually willingly watched a lot. Got her into Discovery & she’s actually the one that requested watching some TNG episodes to prepare for Picard. We just made it through Generations, First Contact & Nemesis this weekend. Now working on some relevant Voyager episodes. She's even been to two conventions with me.
I find it hard to believe that everyone in the Romulan military hierarchy, or the Tal Shiar for that matter, are that incompetent that she could rise to such a high level of power. Someone would have had her clipped before she got that high up.
Show me the scene where T'Pring picked up a weapon in TOS - "Amok Time" (As for Pon Farr- hey, it's Vulcan "crazy time" so all bets are off.)
