Star trek timeline questions

Specter

Couple things...

This is a time line post/question. Mods feel free to move it if needed.

So we have Picard coming out soon
And Discovery s3 at some point.

Being someone who has probably seen every movie and every series (but no really the old animated or any games or books or someone’s you tube spin off) I am always mixed up a bit on timeline. As a 55 yr old who can obviously forgive technology changes on the set, some timeline things bug me.

Does anyone have a clear run down on timeline?

I sorta see it like this / in this order so far but want to be enlightened:

enterprise
Discovery 1&2 w capt pike merging into
The star trek short treks
tos
Then some movies and even ones like Beyond
Then next gen
And those movies
And then ds9
Voyager
Now picard
And then disc 3

is that about right? what am I missing?

or who can even go so far as to list movies and how and where they mix into other series if these had all been “epsiodes” in a vast timeline? I know we are supposed to kind of accept that some of the timeline is punky and distorted but still. Some of you must have a better handle on it than I do.

on a side note, as I post this, I am proud to day that I am headed to the Flynn Theater in Burlington Vt tonight, Thursday Jan 16 where William Shatner is hosting Star Trek 2 Wrath of Kahn and with the VIP tix we got we might even get to meet him and get a pic!

this is awesome!
Plus ski areas up there will get powder which is my other huge hobby!

Short Treks seems to be all over the timeline. Some are concurrent with Disco (the Tilly one and the Harry Mudd one) some are before Disco (the Saru one, The Girl Who Made the Stars, the Pike ones) and some are after Disco (Ephraim and Dot, Children of Mars, Calypso).

Actually, the Kelvin movies would in fact be between Disco and TOS.
Then next gen
And those movies
And then ds9
Voyager
This period is all concurrent with each other. TNG ends during DS9 season 2. DS9 begins during TNG season 6 and ends during Voyager season 5. Voyager begins during DS9 season 3 and ends two years after DS9 ended. As for the TNG movies, Generations takes place during DS9's third and Voyager's first season. First Contact during DS9's fifth and Voyager's third season. Insurrection during DS9's seventh and Voyager's fifth season. Nemesis two years after Voyager ended.

Excellent synopsis thank you.
The kelvin timeline bugs me
Is it an alternate universe where the bad versions of characters (except some) exist? Or a whole other universe

or are we again supposed to just weave all of it in

im also bugged by how they had genesis and mycelial network and dont use all that stuff against borg and janeway getting home and all that

it can be crazy

You’re confusing it with the Mirror universe, where everyone has an evil counterpart. The Kelvin universe branched off from the Prime universe in 2233, but nobody’s evil (although a dark-skinned Middle Eastern Khan Noonian Singh is now a pasty white Brit ;))

Well wasnt Brunt a nice Ferengi in the bad universe? Lol

and ezri was... well she was cute in regular and hot in evil haha

South Asian actually though played by a Mexican of Spanish descent.

The reason why Janeway never used spore drive/mycelial network to get home is addressed in Disco's season 2 finale.

One option would be to watch all the series in the order they were made.

There would be no spoilers around.

Edit: I do recall what was determined by a certain Vulcan at the end of disco2

i have watched everything i think
But not nec in any order

Because we all know how good governments are at keeping things hidden from the public.

:p

That was the dumbest thing ever. Ripping off the end of an episode of The Simpsons'.
