That's what I keep saying. I don't have to like it, but I DO need to accept it, because it IS what it is!It is what it is.

Not sure why people are agreeing with your reasoning. That still makes no sense...so then at the time, was the Federation and Starfleet going through some kind of idea that changing to grey is somehow better for wartime? It makes no sense...why would Starfleet officers choose to change their uniforms in times of war? They aren't on the field, they are in starships or starbases...so again, it doesn't make sense to hide the division colors in wartime when the opposing factions ALREADY know about them. The only reason they would 'retcon' the grey uniform idea was for pure commercial reasons, nothing more. Like I said before, they are just trying to gain casual viewers and disregard the actual fans of the show.
Yeah I guess I was getting a bit too invested there. I didn't mean to sound like a gatekeeper...although the idea is VERY tempting at times...I just really wish visually things would actually look 20 years older from the Nemesis movie standpoint. The uniform to me just doesn't make me think of an evolution, more of a regression. Logically, the AGT uniform or something similar to the Admiral's uniform in Picard would've sufficed. That's my own opinion, obviously.I'm an "actual fan of the show" and I like the new uniforms. I always look forward to the creativity in design and aesthetics that go with new Star Trek spinoffs.
Yeah I agree I was being a bit too invested. See my response to urbandk. It's a psychological thing. Bright and color means peace. Dark and gray means war. We're not going to see eye-to-eye.
And they're not retconning anything because they're not even doing it. That I know of. I made a post earlier that you're making a federal case out of.
Let's move on.

I think a more monochrome look would be look nice, perhaps two tones for each division on the shoulders similar to this design.

Maybe its a kilt or Skant. What's with the miniskirt?
I’m sure the men could wear it as well. Just gives a little more variation. What's with the miniskirt?
Dune tv mini-series gave us more than enough crazy sci-fi hats to satiate that need for at least another decade still.Starfleet needs hats. They don't have enough hats.
I agree. The costume in the shot looks very poorly fitted to the actor, plus the fabric color - way too bright, even for a show where thy're using aspects from TNG as a basis. It almost looks like something from a fan film. (YMMV of course).I might as well say it now, just to get it out of the way. I like the DSC Uniforms better than the PIC Uniforms. These uniforms, like I said, they get the job done and that's about it. I hope this is just a really unflattering pic.
Due to a bizarre space-time anomaly, all the hats ended up in the Kelvin universe.Starfleet needs hats. They don't have enough hats.
ORLY?Due to a bizarre space-time anomaly, all the hats ended up in the Kelvin universe.
still.. a dearth of Star Trek hats. I'm by no means a scholar of Trek headgear, but if we narrow it down just to Starfleet, the examples are few (and the Niners baseball cap doesn't count)Dune tv mini-series gave us more than enough crazy sci-fi hats to satiate that need for at least another decade still.![]()
I'm wearing a hat. Feels bad, man.Hats are stupid and old fashioned.
