Personally I don't want static camera back, but I really found Discovery's camerawork distracting at times. Don't do a fast pan, shakycam, etc unless there's some pressing reason to.

It always makes me think the cameraman has to go pee!

I didn't find that camerawork distracting because it was obviously set up at roughly the speed a human being would shift their focus with a head turn or something. It's when camerawork does something a person can't easily do that it brings you out of immersion.

I must say, my recollection from watching this episode was that it doesn’t feature anywhere near the kind of active camera movement that Discovery does.

Do the Romulans have a yellow-green tint to their skin? Or are they the pasty white Ethan Peck is in Discovery.

I don’t recall any skin colouring to them. I think we’re officially away from that now.

What's the political tone of the 3 episodes? They haven't been released, yet, but the political "dark-web" has already been bashing ST:PCRD and Patrick Stewart's stance. There were comments like:

--lots of "leftie" views, --the bad guy is modeled after Trump, --patronizing political attitude

Does it balance its dark elements with lighter ones? I don't mind dark themes, but I don't want it to be dark all the time.

I've not seen but...

The guy in the thread who has seen three episodes says it's still unclear at that time who the antagonist of the season actually is.

Genuinely, I thought there were more one liners in the first episode than I’ve seen in any modern episode of Trek. There’s a great twist on the earl grey line.

This is, of course, utter nonsense. Not surprising at all. There's no one "modeled on Trump" or any of that bullshit.

The first three episodes are
actually almost entirely apolitical. Picard is disillusioned at a big mistake Starfleet made in the past that he felt was a betrayal of their ethics, but it doesn't really echo or evoke any real world issues happening now, except possibly in the most loose, indirect, allegorical way. If you squint real, REAL hard...

Do you reckon if TNG came out today, people would complain about the Ferengi being hamfisted versions of Trump?

There is only one scene in this episode that feels like it’s taking any particular political stance, and it doesn’t ever feel like it’s beating you over the head.
