That was a good one. Of course, I’m a big fan of any video where little Benny is laid bare for the intellectual fraud that he is.
Even if someone likes Ben Shapiro for his political talk I am not sure why one would care what he thinks about Star Wars. I mean I like Matt Taibbi's work but I am not exactly sure I would be looking to him for his views on Star Wars.

He is a political commentator, right leaning, so not everyone enjoys him. I do, but I'm more right of center than most here.

As for Shapiro and Star Wars.. I liked his take on Last Jedi, which was included (in part) int his great rant video of people responding to the film shortly having gotten to watch it. There are people that can defend the film and even defend most of the individual issues raised in this video I guess, but the fact that a person can walk out of the movie clouded by these issues shows a real lapse in storytelling judgment by Rian regardless of whether each individual issue can be "explained".

Lots of people walk out of films confused. I know someone who walked out of the first Avengers confused.

The same reason he's the polar opposite of Cenk Uygur in political beliefs? They're both interesting characters with the gift of gab that are either right on the money on an issue, can sell a talking point with assertive honed verbal acuity, or come off as being haughtily pretentious to sell a hollow of half-baked narrative.
To be fair, Ben was not wrong with his colorful description of 1:54 - 2:08 appx. Han's fate was just cringe (though the ideas behind Luke were more plausible, but I digress). But people were shrieking like him in 1994 over Captain Kirk's death in GEN as well.
He's got the gift of gab, that's why he does what he does. Just like Jimmy and Paul and others.

That the Ewoks were modeled on communist Viet Cong? And people only knew that because of some behind the scenes materials revealing that. On screen there's very little and people could look at it any way they wanted and remain nonplussed because it didn't steamroller from a nondescript and generic, open-ended fictional realm that's accessible to anybody. It's not even a jungle planet it's just a big forest - it's that comparatively open, and open-ended. Some might have made a connection but it would have been guesswork until it was revealed that the Ewoks were based on them...
Even more open-ended than 1983's "V" that hit close to home with Nazi parallels (even the Visitors' logo was modeled on the Nazi logo and it sorta shows...) Now compare to 2009's "V" where they're taking Obama speeches as a direct hint (though Obama would admit by 2012 on video in full context his policies would be deemed Republican if he made the same ones in the 1980s so the 2009 reboot's writers missed the mark)... I don't recall any of Reagan's speeches in 1983 being co-opted...

A lot of their points are valid, and TLJ did have some issues - every movie does...
I forgot about the "yo mama" joke in TLJ.
Sci-fi is best when it shows people not mimicking contemporary mannerisms unless it's a contemporary human of contemporary society as pandering. This is in a galaxy a long time ago and far away, or so we're told... They're not going to act and look just like us. Is it not hubris to expect otherwise? (There you go, Rian subverted yet another expectation, that tally keeps clicking upward doesn't it. 
) But it'd be like Han asking Leia using contemporary slang like "Let's boogie and get away from this jive Vader cat". Yup, that's no more or less cringeworthy. Or if it were made in the late 1960s, try "I dig it at this groovy place. Let's hope them squares in the Empire don't fuzz it! Oh wait, the ship is hailing. Hi there Admiral Angst, are you gonna sock it to us with your tiny space cannon?" Yup, just as cringey. Could be worse, but I wasn't about to look up episodes of Donny and Marie to find any catchphrases or pop humor. That and the 1960s were always more fun with the way-out stuff...And it's not like the franchise has absconded physics before like when they threw it in the toilet in 1977 and 1980 too -- and as with those there are sites they devote how various means can be used to mitigate the vacuum of space, though making itty bitty bombs with thrusters that don't show exhaust (just like the Enterprise) and have timed electromagnetic circuits that engage only when sufficiently away from the ship releasing them so they don't get blown up but then can land on a target, etc... still nobody's brought up how we can have sounds in outer space, apart from audience recognition of audio cues - there is no in-universe explanation and there never should be.
Then again, Star Wars did ditch physics in some thrillride ways but to make up for it, it also appeared to make its own rules for the Force -- at least in the first six episodes. So as much as I could sit and theorize about space bombardiering, it's still half-naff and there's no reason for them to have done it. It's still better than how the Force has become a "get out of plot corner free card" - or a whole deck of cards. If JJ hated TLJ as some allege, why did he take the Force as a plot detour and pump in so many steroids into it that, to compare, Ms and Mr Universe would promptly explode if they both took the same quantity each? TLJ got criticized for adding a few shiny new force powers that were more or less laughable, or half-baked. Each person ultimately takes suspension of disbelief to a different level.
Still, a lot of them need to get out and boogie worse than me. Now that's sayin' something.

There usually is, at least can be, some interest when a political pundit tries to review entertainment and more so if you find his ideas (and mix thereof) and way of advocating for them pretty interesting, if you don't then you would have a lot less or none.
What if any critics do you like and/or care about?

A lot of time passing may have tempered the disappointment but hasn't really decreased it.

That's not the only reference. But, your point stands that people could look at the ST any way they want and not be impacted by the politics.
Also, the Rebels were also modeled on the VC. And the Imperials on the Nazis.
