That was a good one. Of course, I’m a big fan of any video where little Benny is laid bare for the intellectual fraud that he is.I prefer his interview with Andrew Neil on Youtube...
He is a political commentator, right leaning, so not everyone enjoys him. I do, but I'm more right of center than most here.Who is Ben Shapiro, and why should I care what he thinks of Star Wars?

And I appreciate thatWe love you anyway.![]()

Politics aside, you’ve always had carefully thought out reasonable opinions on a lot of things.but I'm more right of center than most here.
That's my goal. Thank youPolitics aside, you’ve always had carefully thought out reasonable opinions on a lot of things.

Why are we taking that clown’s opinion on anything seriously?

Love the tolerance. And yes, the video has nothing to do with politics. It's a decent review of the movie.
Someone should tell George Lucas that, given how his politics informed the making of Star Wars.
I care about ONE OPINION.......#mineI’m honestly not sure of three things:
ETA: I did a little research. I now know who this guy is. He’s not someone whose opinion I believe I would respect. So I’m going to take a pass on watching the video. Enjoy your discussion, but I’m out.
- Who Ben Shapiro is?
- Why I should care what Ben Shapiro thinks?
- Why this needed its own thread when the movie is already being discussed in the review thread?
I'm right of center myself.
As for Shapiro and Star Wars.. I liked his take on Last Jedi, which was included (in part) int his great rant video of people responding to the film shortly having gotten to watch it. There are people that can defend the film and even defend most of the individual issues raised in this video I guess, but the fact that a person can walk out of the movie clouded by these issues shows a real lapse in storytelling judgment by Rian regardless of whether each individual issue can be "explained".
Sci-fi is best when it shows people not mimicking contemporary mannerisms unless it's a contemporary human of contemporary society as pandering. This is in a galaxy a long time ago and far away, or so we're told... They're not going to act and look just like us. Is it not hubris to expect otherwise? (There you go, Rian subverted yet another expectation, that tally keeps clicking upward doesn't it.
) But it'd be like Han asking Leia using contemporary slang like "Let's boogie and get away from this jive Vader cat". Yup, that's no more or less cringeworthy. Or if it were made in the late 1960s, try "I dig it at this groovy place. Let's hope them squares in the Empire don't fuzz it! Oh wait, the ship is hailing. Hi there Admiral Angst, are you gonna sock it to us with your tiny space cannon?" Yup, just as cringey. Could be worse, but I wasn't about to look up episodes of Donny and Marie to find any catchphrases or pop humor. That and the 1960s were always more fun with the way-out stuff...

1. To me he's just another tuber, so his opinion means about the same as any other tuber.. As in 0.001 per cent care.
people were shrieking like him in 1994 over Captain Kirk's death in GEN as well.
A lot of time passing may have tempered the disappointment but hasn't really decreased it.That's not the only reference. But, your point stands that people could look at the ST any way they want and not be impacted by the politics. That the Ewoks were modeled on communist Viet Cong? And people only knew that because of some behind the scenes materials revealing that. On screen there's very little and people could look at it any way they wanted and remain nonplussed because it didn't steamroller from a nondescript and generic, open-ended fictional realm that's accessible to anybody.
