picard lusting after his TNG movies combadge in the trailers struck me as odd, the TNG series badge is so much more iconic and really symbolic of his glory days.

    picky, picky, picky.

Didn’t he likely wear the movie one for longer, though?

More recently, but not longer. The TNG Communicator was in use as early was 2349 ("Family"). So 2349-2371 is 22 years (at least). 2371-2385 is "only" 14. That being said, the TNG Movie Communicator makes more sense because it was the last one he had.

It’s annoying to see, how the conservative media keeps dissecting every word which comes out Patrick Stewarts mouth. Youtube and twitter are full of angry trolls ranting against the series because its subtext might subliminally criticize Brexit and Trump. The new midnight edge episode is basically an 10 minute rant against Stewart and why he is unqualified to transport an opinion of its own within a tv show.

Someone must have an enormous grudge against Star Trek

just ignore them. they don't deserve any further attention since they exposed themselves as pointless grumpy clickbaiters with no real knowledge.

It's definitely not easy being a Sir Patrick fan at the moment - it really gets to me how they insult him and send threats on Twitter/FB and how vicious and hateful they are. (This is why - and everyone may throw tomatoes at me now - I was against his return to the Trek franchise, and still am NOT fond of it and wish it hadn't happened. I knew something like this would occur - right-wing trolls have been targeting him for quite some time because of his opinions on Trump/Brexit and/or his support of LGBT+ rights, and now everything is amplified by a factor of zillion because they're getting more attention with their hate since they can now claim he's "ruining Star Trek for conservatives".)

I just wish he'd stuck with his initial "no" when they asked him to return as Jean-Luc Picard. The Trek fandom is incredibly volatile these days, and I for one would like to have my peaceful days as a Sir Patrick fan back where the only thing I had to worry about was whether he'd create a small controversy over the choice of his socks.

(Don't get me wrong - I love and support him, no matter what kind of career paths he takes, it is not my place as a fan to cry "BUT YOU ARE NOT DOING WHAT I WANT HOW DARE YOU", that's NOT my intention here - I'm just really, really exhausted right now.)

I doubt Sir Patrick is seeing any of the stuff trolls are firing at him.

Oh, he's aware of it. He has stated in the past that his anti Trump/Brexit opinions "gave me quite a bit of heat on social media". I don't think he reads every single insult, but he's definitely aware of the general idea.

In "Family", LaBarre had a few futuro-spires on the horizon: an apparent building, an apparent communications/control mast (for the vineyard's drones?), and a few not-so-apparent doodads like weird power towers. Now it has lots of these generic towers. The developers must have opened a bottle or six of Chateau Picard at the news of Robert's death, finally being able to move in...

It's of course a different main house, too. Or then the estate has several buildings of this approximate sort, and the camera looked the other way in "Family". We get no hints of the local chateau on top of a hill in this poster, either, after all.

    I didn't look close enough...
Now I see that it's just a continuation of the vineyard across and behind the character insert.

I’ve figured out what the twist in the last episode will be, the hook for Season 2. I’ll tag it with a spoiler since it depends on spoilers people have shared from the first three.

Clearly, the central plot is a continuation of the themes of “Measure of a Man” and “The Offspring”. Picard is pursuing Maddox, trying to stop him and find justice for the synths, whom he regards as a “race” that is being exploited (he says as much in “Measure of a Man”). I’m guessing Picard and his new crew do find him and apprehend him towards the end of the season. Picard is clearly motivated by his love for Data, his guilt over Data having sacrificed himself, his guilt that B4 didn’t “work out”, probably also his past guilt about not being able to save Lal, etc. There will undoubtedly be more Data flashbacks. Now. Picture it. The last episode is coming to an end, a happy ending to some extent. Maddox is apprehended, the mission is a success. And just as they are about to board their ship, in walks a figure. We pan up, from bottom to top, to reveal—everyone’s favorite golden android. Picard has been seeing him in his dreams. Is this a dream? Is it the irumodic syndrome? Everyone else sees him too, even though it can’t be. Picard briefly thinks it might really be him—somehow. But then, the famous evil smirk on the android’s face, and we see Picard’s face twist in horror in response. Picard whispers, “Lore...!” Lore smiles, and says, “Nice to see you again, Captain. You’re not going anywhere.” He raises a phaser, and we fade out. End of S1, see you again in two years.
