So about S4 E17 Bound

So I was re watching enterprise when I remembered about the premise of bound in witch Orion women release Pheromones to make all the guys want them and give all women headaches. Now this episode is bad on its own and thanks to the time period were it was made not being nearly as LGBT friendly as today it opens up a lot of weird questions and plot holes for today. Would it work on all men regardless of orientation? For instance if if a crew member who was known to be gay suddenly develops a need to get with the women that would be a really big red flag. Or would the Pheromone detect orientation and gay men would not effected? In that case would it affect Lesbians? I just think from a current perspective this episode is even worse than it already is.

Regardless of what is said in the episode, the effect of the pheromones is not one of sexual enthralling. Nobody begins to do the bidding of a pheromone-emitting woman - neither men nor women. Instead, the chemical makes the victims generally confused, docile and easily led, but also easily irritated regardless of gender. Essentially, the Orion women are distributing free booze.

Once drunk, the crew then can be made to do things, again regardless of gender. It just so happens that all the important people aboard are male... So the Orions concentrate their efforts on those, and we learn zip on what they could do with women (except make them jealous, perhaps - again easier if they are drunk as skunks).

Now, once an Orion sets her eyes on a suitably drunken male, she may engage in sexual innuendo to get him going. Or then she may just give straightforward orders and otherwise establish dominance. But no hero becomes slave to an Orion. Quite to the contrary, once enthralled, they easily switch loyalties, or band with each other or against each other, like drunks everywhere. This is especially evident in the final confrontation on the bridge.

So whatever be said of the episode, any connection to LGBTQXYZ issues is in the eye of the beholder. The Orions just lead people, who happen to be straight males all; they might choose different tactics on different types of people, while still relying on the very same set of nifty chemicals.

All power to you Trip/Malcolm fans out there, but I'm a Trip/T'Pol shipper, and I think they made a very nice couple, once the writers stopped screwing up their storyline, which was way too often. And gotta say, when the Orion pheromones didn't work on Trip, I didn't think gay, I thought bond. I'll admit, I was primed for it-- I was pretty T/T-starved after they got shunted into a corner to make way for the Season 4 fanwank-a-palooza, and was hoping for any T/T at all before the season (series ) ended.

Not counting TATV. Nonsense. Waste of an hour.

And I didn't think Bound was a horrible episode, either. That replacement Chief Engineer stooge, he was pretty weak, but I thought the rest of the episode was fun, and I liked the reversal at the end. And the kiss too. Long. Time. Coming.

Thats a lot of emojis. I agree that i don't like how they did Tucker well at the end of the series. Dont really like the episode though because it's a pretty chicle episode, never really cared for this trope.

I really like the Bound; we learned about Orion society, Vulcan Bound and we saw some Trek actors/actresses again. TnT moment with great acting. Dance of Orion girls, at the first I sight, I thought they are professional dancers.

I think we have to tell apart the terminologies "divers" and "LGBTIX friendly". We have too many series, novels etc, with too much divers figures and they don't have any strong LGBTIX (and mostly not even strong female) characters. I mean strong not good/bad, strong with multi dimensional personal features who is important for the narrative.
LGBTIX friendly is also very differing terminology by definition. I know a trans woman who disgusts feminine homosexual men. (She was born in wrong body and she doesn't like the people who are imitating another sex what they are not..says she) I am not sure, if she can be called LGBTIX-friendly person. So, I think we need a little bit time to consensus and wouldn't judge the ENT/Bound in this way.
I wish they gave us Reed/Hayes couple, they could make each other really happy on a believable, satisfying relationship (or one night stand, I don't care ). With all my respect, Malcolm and Trip are great friends (and T'Pol and Trip are a great couple so far TPTB allowed them to be one). I believe in a world where male/female, male/male, female/female friendships without erotic undertones are possible and who believes those are not possible gives too much credit for sexuality.

This episode was horrible, horrible, horrible.

They did look like they were trying to do something LGBT with T'Pol, but lets choose the most emotionally distant character and try and play that for a split second.

This was a real lemon in the middle of ENT's best season.

You mean IX of LGBTIX? I began to write it at this form while for some people find indeed LGBTQIAPK not enough. I hope one day we don't need this kind of "qualifications" as we didn't have at jungle, human being would be sufficient for all of us. A long way to ride..
