    That's the gist.
And it's a large part of why Picard cares so much -- because he feels he owes it to Data, who saved his life, to try to save Data's "daughter."

@Crewman6, sorry if you addressed this, but did you see any recognizable 24th century tech? Presumably, the delta badges are still communicators? What about tricorders? Phasers? Do they fire beams instead of pulses!?

The only one who uses his delta as a communicator is Picard, though all other Starfleet personnel are wearing 'em.

We see plenty of PADDs, no tricorders or phasers. The weapons used are
    Romulan
and IIRC they all fire with beams. In one scene, there's some kind of scanner used, but it doesn't resemble a classic tricorder.

    Rios has
a personalized EMH that looks like him but acts like a stereotypically fussy/fey Brit.

I gotta say that all of this sounds incredibly promising.

If you had told me a couple of years ago that Patrick Stewart would return to star in a series that, at least in the beginning, is a sequel to one of the greatest Star Trek episodes of all-time? Man, I most certainly would not have believed it.

Thanks for the spoilers, I am even more excited for this series than ever before

Very sad for the BUT WHAT ABOUT THE SHIPZ crew. They'll have to wait until Episode 4 or more :(

What about language? My mother-in-law is a long time fan of Trek, but not a fan of foul language. Will it be a problem?

By the way, @Crewman6, did the Borg cube show up in the episodes you saw? Was it some kind of joint Federation-Romulan prison? Now that I know about the Maddox/Data plot point, the role of the Borg seems much less clear to me. Curious if that's anything you already saw.

Family was easily one of my top 10 favorite TNG episodes, so I'm personally stoked to see more of 24th century Earth.

Couldn't agree with you more. Also, Picard has left Starfleet. Of course, he's not going to be on some starship flying around the Alpha Quadrant.

It'll be interesting to see their version, especially knowing that Kurtzman worked on both Star Trek (2009) and Into Darkness.

It's a science project that the Romulans are working on for reasons unexplained. They invite other non-Romulan scientists to participate, so we have Dahj's twin (can't remember her name) and a Trill who are visiting scientists.

It's not a prison. It's a combination lab/rehab facility where they are also trying to rehabilitate former drones. Hugh has a prominent position there and butts heads with some Romulans over procedure or something.

Honestly, the Borg cube stuff is probably the weakest aspect of the show, mostly because it's just pretty confusing and very little about its intent/point is explained. There's a Romulan bad guy skulking about, but his motives and goals aren't clear, either. Other than Dahj's sister being there, it would seem to have no bearing to anything Picard is doing.

I believe there's one shit and one fuck across the 3 episodes. Don't quote me on that, but that's what I remember.

    So...
Are we to believe the Borg have been eliminated?

This sounds to me more like an abandoned Borg Cube ala "Dark Frontier" than an indication of anything else.

Haha. Happy to help. Managed to luck my way into the screening, so, as Q once said, "My good fortune is your good fortune!"

I honestly don't get the desire to hear spoilers, but if that's your jam, have at it!

Besides, you guys will all feel pretty silly in a few weeks once you realize I've been lying.

there's a fleeting reference to it having been "cut off from the Collective", so the implication is that the rest of the Borg are still out there...

Well, didn't VOY: Endgame basically imply that? Last we saw the Borg, their main complex in the Delta Quadrant was exploding all over. On the other hand, maybe this is just a captured cube?

Works for me. Starfleet is good, but not that good. Same with the Romulans. The Borg deserve better than to be destroyed off-screen.
