    Without Niles, not interested.

This doesn't look like any kind of Frasier revival, just a new TV series with old busted Kelsey playing the Frasier Crane character again.

Ouch! Forgotten already? You were just down ther
I kinda agree with that. I never really watched Cheers, so I don't know how they did or didn't work as a couple on that show. But whenever I saw them on Frasier, I could never figure out why they couldn't make it work. Even when they weren't good for each other, they still deserved each other. :p

I can just picture Niles making a snide remark about that.

I wonder how much of that is a result of binging the show. When the show was originally on the air, I found myself rapidly losing interest around the time the Daphne & Niles finally got together. But in recent years when I've caught random reruns of the later seasons, I've thought that they actually did a pretty good job of maintaining the quality overall. I think it's more just that the show kinda ran out of ideas after Season 6 and so they ended up repeating themselves a lot in the later seasons.

I'm not sure that I'd be interested in Frasier coming back as an ongoing series but I'd like to see a reunion movie every 5 years or so. Just to check in and make sure that all of the characters are OK.

I don't think it had much to do with binge watching it. Most die hard fans agree the show softened in those seasons. There was some standout clever writing, but the clunky episodes really dragged the seasons down. And, important to remember; the last season returned to top form. The original writing staff returned, they wanted the series could go out with the same quality of writing that it came in with.

It's OK if you're not interested, You're not obligated to watch. I love the character(s), and if they set themselves up to hit another 8 season home run, I'd certainly be in for it. I wouldn't want them to go to the well one too many times just for the hell of it, they would have to have something really special; meaning an excellent cast, situation, and writing.

Once again who returned? One of them was dead. And the last season had some stupid ass episodes like Maris murdering someone.

  7. LOL :)

    Also.. i read this here:

"Grammer said that while no network has taken in the Cranes just yet, he approved of an idea for the new season. “We’ve got it hatched. We’ve hatched the plan, what we think is the right way to go,” he explained."

So, the name of the new show could be "the Cranes"

The Crances is what the writer of the article is calling the cast. For all we know Frasier is the only Crane on the show. I still think the show will be called Frasier unless for some legal issues.

I agree that we don't need more of the character -- it ended as it should have, but having said that ... if they continue, here are some of my ideas:

Okay, so I'll go with Frasier being a professor. I'll go with his son being more like his father.

So, Frasier is an adjunct professor some less than prestigious university (something he still can't get over). He is dealing with his new marriage and his son (who inherited the chair, so it's still there -- now with more duct tape). Just when he thinks he's got a handle on things, the handle comes off:

A new adjunct professor has arrived -- Niles Crane. Having been fired from his radio show and always wanting to one-up his brother, Niles jealously peruses the same line of work.

Now thinking he has the handle, Niles becomes shocked and unsettled with the re-incarnation of Crane With a Cane becomes friends with his son David. But it becomes even worse when he becomes infatuated with Niles daughter.*

    * = If we assume Niles and Daphne got pregnant quickly after David and that this show may not even air until 2022 (assume it even gets made), she'll be 18, so no worries about the age.

Yes, no worries about 70 something Frasier lusting after his 18 year old (checks notes) niece, what could possibly go wrong?

Yeah, the show cratered hard when they finally got Niles and Daphne together, with some of the most atrociously hackneyed plots ever put on television. Any episode with Daphne's mother is also an automatic skip for me, too. However, after the pits of hell that were seasons 7 - 9, the show largely rebounded and returned to form in seasons 10 and 11.

Yeah a 70 year old looking at an 18 year old.... not needed.

Also the show is supposed to come out THIS SUMMER, not 2022. It's a sitcom. They can easily make 13 episodes in less than 6 months. They can make the show as soon as they want. They made Mad About You within 4-5 months I think.

What part of "Crane With a Cane" which any fan knows is a reference to Martin, meaning Frasier's son as noted earlier in my post, is confusing you to think Frasier Crane?

Looks like one of you didn't pay attention to what I wrote, then the other one took the erroneous reading of the other one and went with it.

^Might just have been easier if you said who became infatuated. I had to re-read the post a few times to see who “he” referred to.

even so, it’s not like a 30 something lusting after a teenage cousin is an awful lot better.

Not for me. The episodes where he was still married to Mel but together with Daphne were very good, and most of the episodes with Daphne's family were well written. The downturn had nothing to do with Niles and Daphne. The show changed, so what? The writers left. That's the problem.

The clunkers were things like "Docu.Drama" and "Mary Christmas" and ""The First Temptation of Daphne" "Wheels of Fortune" and so on. "Wheels of Fortune" and "The Devil and Dr. Phil" were especially terrible. Usually the episodes that featured Bebe Glazer were great and some of my favorites, this one STANK up the room. The Nile's heart attack three-parter never needed to happen. It's such a GD cop-out to pull this crap on a comedy sitcom.

"Cheerful Goodbyes" brought many Cheers characters back, but the writing was so ba...errr.. mediocre. "Bully for Martin" "Enemy at the Gate", "Proxy Prexy" "Fraternal Schwinns" and more were all just sub-standard. They could have been considered good writing for most sitcoms, but not Frasier. The trouble with those seasons were that the high points were a little lower, and the low points were a LOT lower.

Even so, littered around these clunkers was a lot of cleverly written episodes.

Eh, Daphne's mother was the least of my worries. Episodes like "War of the Words" made me want to tune out... Thankfully, season 11 was back to form.

Frasier is one of my favourite things ever, so I'm definitely intrigued to see what they come up within this new version.

I will miss Niles dearly, but I imagine that's how people felt when Frasier left the bar back in 1994. I won't get my hopes up, but you never know.

I have mixed feelings on this one. I loved Fraiser. I have all 11 seasons on DVD and re-watch them frequently. On the one hand, I'd hate to see the show without Marty. On the other hand, they could recast, but I'd hate to see anybody other than John Mahoney play Marty.

In the lap of squalor I assure you.
They could have a cgi/hologram Marty?

And Daphne is his tech support.

Although I was thinking that the show start with Frasier getting divorced from Maris.
