News Star Trek: Picard | Countdown Comic #3 delayed.............

I wonder fi they've had to make a change somewhere along the line due to something in production/post-production of the show?

Huh January 15th? I could have sworn the release date was always after the series premier.

I must have been confusing it with the Short Trek.

I thought it was originally scheduled for release on the 27th? Anyway, it was always going to be after the premiere. There's been long-time speculation here that it's because of spoilers.

Originally, issue #3 of the Picard prequel series was due to be released on January 15th, the week before the show’s premiere. But IDW, the comic’s publishers, confirmed to me yesterday that the release has been delayed for production reasons.

That was my first reaction too but someone involved in the comic and show said it was indeed a production issue of some sort in a text message few minutes ago.........so I will go with their story for now. ;-)

Then why have we been speculating for the last month about why the 3rd issue was being released after the premiere?

I always saw the release date after the show starts, never one before the 23rd. When and where did you see that earlier date?

I don't know? Last month when we were discussing the series in TrekLit, the release date had already been moved to January 27th.

How odd. When I google it, I can’t find anything about a January 27th date, although the link below gives the 29th January date even though the article is dated November. Might have been updated more recently...

I flubbed the date from the other thread.

It's three issues released monthly. The last one comes out on January 29, though.

Edit: Ninja'd :D

But this post is from December 1st, and the date, if it was originally different, had already been changed.

Hmm, is the Tor article the original source of the 29th date then, assuming it hasn’t been retroactively changed? Memory Alpha has it listed as the 15th, interestingly.

Here's a post I made back towards the end of November where I was under the impression the third comic was due out on January 29 (six days after the premiere)
The loop hole, however is that since the third and final issue is to be released after Picard's premiere, they can cover relevant aspects of Picard's backstory from the show, like how and why he left Starfleet, without technically spoiling the show, since it premiered six days prior.

Star Trek release dates are annoying:

1. when will the rest of the world be able to see the remaining Short Trek Episodes? Children of Mars is supposed to be a prologue to ST PIC, yet non u.s. citizens will most likely not be able see it (legally) before the show starts. Weird!

2. When exactly will ST PIC be released on Amazon Prime on January 24th? Morning, Noon, Evening (no one reall knows)

Doesn't Amazon Prime usually put their new shows on midnight when the day begins?
Netflix has been going for midnight "Mexico Time" for Discovery (which means not far behind the US release). It's possible Amazon might do the same, but I don't really know how they operate on this front.

If they were going for midnight local time, most of Europe would actually be getting it before the US, and that definitely seems unlikely. I think doing something similar to Netflix would be the best we could realistically hope for.

For those who have already seen the premiere, can you comment on -- in a non-spoilerly fashion -- whether the storyline from the comic is referenced?
