Since shortly after release weekend, I’ve been corresponding with someone who worked closely on the production of TROS and works for one of the major companies I cannot disclose here.

And this is where I stopped taking it seriously. This reads like "The names have been changed to protect the innocent." No, I don't believe they have a source, and I don't believe a word of what was written. It is an effort to read in to supposed statements to support a preconceived worldview.

It's OK to just not like a movie instead of relying upon conspiracy style theories to support your feelings. Is it worth it? Is life so much better if this conspiracy is true? Is the ST better?

None of this makes sense.

I did not read fully Campe98's analysis of the latest leaks; however, from what I have heard, I can believe some of it. And having learned recently that JJ Abrams is the son of two producers, I believe he would have learned about the politics of Hollywood and how to operate in that environment. This, and his experience working in Hollywood for the past several decades, guided him through the making of his latest film and how to deal with obstacles and studio interference.

And studio interference and meddling is not a thing which does not make sense. It is been a common feature of film making since its inception.

Do I believe there is a JJ Adams cut? I am on the fence on that.

The thing is: There’s enough there to discredit the whole thing even if I do agree some of it is somewhat believable.

Oh, I agree. Even reading the rest in your comments I could see some believability. But, it's taken apart by the "anonymous source" and the inconsistencies of the narrative, as you note.

At this point, there is no way to collaborate any thing stated, so I dismiss it. But, no doubt it will be regurgitated ad nauseum, making it appear actually legitimate. Such is the nature of the internet. More's the pity that people do not think for themselves.

My biggest thing was that there was a supposed cut in December when it clearly was locked prior to that. There are deadlines in filmmaking just like everywhere else.

Yes but that is different to an actor wearing a hood. Why would you need to simulate a hood unless the lighting didn't work, and still why even bother?

I don't take Reddit seriously. I did say to take this with a huge tub of salt as for its veracity. I don't think the majority of what I found in that link is true, but there might be hints of truth such as the studio wanting to force changes on the film. That's as far as I'd go on believing any of that.

I have to confess, there are times I've almost been tempted to actually try it, and see if I could get some of the news sites to actually pick it up. Then I'd wait a couple weeks and once it had made the rounds, I'd admit that I made it up just to prove to people that I shouldn't trust stuff on sites like that.
Obviously now that I've posted this, I can't actually do it.
