I'd like to see Cats done with full CGI (like the Lion King remake), so we can see it performed by actual cats.

Interesting how why we still use old cinema terms like 'print'
. Digital theaters today tend to use DCP packages: Universal notified theaters on 20 December that an updated version of the film with "some improved visual effects" would be available for download on 22 December and on hard drive by 24 December.

If you already like "Cats" it should be enjoyable in a weird way. I went w my kids and we sang along and laughed.
If you're not into it should still be enjoyable in a WTF way. Which I like. I like the weird eps of Star Trek that other ppl hate, way better than the ho hum one.
There are many far worse, certainly less entertaining movies. At least this was SOMEthing. So many things are just meh.
I've never seen any version of Cats, so this should prove interesting, haha! I do like me some WTF stuff (in Trek as well!) so yeah, this train wreck of a movie sounds like as if it's right up my alley. Besides, it has Sir Ian McKellen, which is always a plus, no matter what.
Which is more than cancelled out by the unforgivable presence of James Corden...
I have to wonder if the Movie didn't have such nightmarish CGI, if it would have done better.

Yeah I'm not a fan of James Corden either (even though he and Sir Patrick made up a long time ago, I still don't like the guy). But then, I endured Corden's presence in the Emoji Movie as well; might as well do so again...

Geez - not only is it creepy but I've seen better cgi on a TV budget.
Both those things, Rebel Wilson and James Cordon are near the beginning -- which gets it over with, but really sets a bad tone: overweight people are clumsy, gross baffoons. Pretty pissed about that. Plus if you listen to the words, neither cat is supposed to be buffoonish or disgusting. McKellan's part is a highlight, near the end. Playing an aged cat (of course) . . . and I almost spoilered something.
There's oddly a bit more plot than before. Reviewers have remarked it's a bunch of cats introducing themselves one by one. YUP. That's what "Cats" is. Enjoy.

I could see Rebel Wilson being a fit for the character (by day a big lazy cat that just sits around doing nothing) but can be active at night if they followed the lyrics to the song properly.

Who thinks Swift's cat lady character looks like Selina Kyle as a mutated catgirl in the Tyger Tyger episode of Batman TAS? one of my favorite episodes and Selina is lovely no mater how she looks. Yet Swift's Cat lady is nowhere near as *wolf whistle* as catgirl Selina, even Cleo from Heathcliff, Felicia, Callie Briggs from Swat Kats, Jenny from Bucky O'Hare, Aishia Clan Clan, Mirage from Aladdin, Pam and Polly from Eek the Cat, Kittain Kaboodle from Talespin, Kit Mambo from Animalympics, Hatton Slayden's cat women (if anyone is familiar wit that excellent artist?), Omaha the cat dancer, that stripper 3 breasted alien cat lady from Star Trek V, M'ress from Star Trek and even Cheetara/Pumarya are way more attractive than Swift's cat lady.
The effort put into this list both amuses and terrifies me.
