Your annual vacation/holidays

Back to Spain on Wednesday, to see our now completed and renovated flat.
Operation "furnish the flat" starts in earnest now, some furniture and fittings have already been ordered
Operation "move there full time" scheduled for January 2020.

I would absolutely love a return trip to Germany. Had a TON of fun there last year, and not just for the Oktoberfest. Unfortunately my dad doesn't want to go again, but I'll go alone if I have to!

Besides, at the Oktoberfest, you're never alone. You sit down at one of those tables and ten minutes later you have new best friends.

I'm getting ready for my trip to Austria tomorrow.

Weather will be quite gloomy. I'm going to see the first hints of snow. I'm not sure which boots I'm going to take along. My trolley bag is already heavy enough. I need an anti-grav device!

How was the trip?

Home from a 2 weeks with my parents. Now I'd need another 2 weeks to recover from that "vacation" *sigh*. They are in their 80s, my sister is never at home and my brother is too obese to be of much help so that all the heavy lifting and dirty work is left to me. My vacations tend to be a scoop of hell with an extra helping of devils. I'm always funambulating along the rim of a burnout.
LOL sorry, I didn't mean to whine but sometimes it helps to simply let off a bit of steam.

Not sure if it counts, since it's an ultra-short vacation but yesterday I took the evening off from cookie baking and went on a stroll though the town. It's an old Bavarian custom to have a crib/manger/nativity scene and to visit the neighbours to admire theirs. In my town, many shops have nativity scenes in their windows and it's fun to stroll through the historical city center and see all those mangers. The spectrum ranges from 300 years old and very costly ones to ultra modern and abstract ones.
My favourite so far was one that was crafted by mentally handycapped people 3 or 4 years ago. The sheep were cut from sponges and St Mary and St Joseph were dressed dishwashing brushes with pipe cleaners for arms. It looked hilarious and everyone who saw it couldn't help laughing. Not with contempt but with genuine amusement because the use of every day materials was so ingenious =)
I haven't seen all mangers yesterday so there'll be a few more tiny vacations to see the others and to decide which one is best. But the one in the workshop for the mentally handicapped is usually my favourite. They have different ones every year but all of them are beautiful. :adore:

Please, dear God in Heaven, let this pan out.

BER airport is scheduled to open on October 31, 2020

Can't say I'd be too sad to see Tegel Airport go, to be honest. First time in my life I'd seen an airport where each gate has its own check-in desk, security line, and baggage claim. What were they thinking?

srsly, I am absolutely JONESING for a return trip to Germany and I hope with every fiber of my being that BER will be open by then. Even though Munich is my favorite German city, I also had a great time in Berlin and would very much like to see it again as well.

Plus, BER will have direct rail access, and that's always a plus. :techman:
