I forget the name of the episode Ensign Patience was in, but it was one that takes place in space. You know the one.

Yeah, I know that one. Kind of overrated, IMO.
Perhaps we’ll also see Q because of his long association with Picard. And if Guinan is there she can take her defensive posture of grabbing invisible tits.
People are complaining about how Data looks right now. de Lancie looks pretty good for 71, but he definitely doesn't look like he's in his 30s anymore. Although, I am sure they could write in that Q somehow wanted to age out like the rest of them. It would be interesting to see how they do it.
^this. I don't think it would even bother me if they look as do now rather than de-aged. Both Whoopi and DeLancie have a joyful youthfulness in their personas (which is why I think they were cast), and Q can appear pretty much as he wants to present himself. I can understand why some fans are more exercised over Data who is supposed to be an ageless android (though personally doesn't bother me)

just looked him up on twitter and yeah i think so too... i hope i'm holding up like that.
Q is easy. One CGI shot of him appearing as he used to, then a quip about how Picard has aged, click, flash, he's old too.
Guinan would be harder as we know she was in the Victorian era looking the same as she did in the 24thC, but I'm sure we'd manage to get over it.
Having said that, I'd rather keep the cameos and reappearances to a minimum, and I'd say that has already been exceeded. I want a great story, not a victory lap
We don't know what the new series will be like (or do we?) but it feels like if a series is called "Picard", Q is a must have.

Why not Q or Guinan?
Q = Past his prime.
Guinan = Whoopi is pre-occupied ATM. Why bother her if there's no story-related reason for her to be there?
You mean John de Lancie is past his prime, Q is ageless.
Whoopi was the one who told TNG crew she wants to be in the show. Maybe she wants to appear in Picard too?
Q could "appear" old so he and Picard can do a Grumpy Old Men sequel.
