It was an incredibly satisfying ending for an awful character.
Makes me hope the same happens in The Witcher.
I’m sad to say... I really enjoyed the first season. Looking forward to the next.
It was engaging but confusing. I am at least willing to try next round.

For those who follow such things, Linkara posted his review of the Last Jedi comic, and included his own arguments about why he likes the film. He also provides critiques of the film in his review, as well as critiquing the comic.
It's long, with 3 parts. But, it is quite enjoyable and the comment section has (thus far) been fairly civil.

Poe was never meant to stick around and it's painfully obvious. He's a totally flat character, he has no real backstory or story arc or character arc whatsoever. He's absolutely not on equal footing, narratively speaking, with Rey and Finn. He's just....some guy that smiles a lot. No personality (except for the high degree of charisma and charm from the actor, which certainly helps), and no real place in the story.
The ST does not have a "central trio" like the OT did and pretending that Poe is equivalent in importance to Rey and Finn, let alone the characters from the OT trio, just resulted in a lot of wasted time.

i think TLJ is so bad, so terrible, so un-SW that it got me to really tap out. Whatever charm the franchise has has made away to cynicism, and agenda politics

I think the notion of cynically deconstructing Star Wars is one that is done with risk. It's better left to fans and other filmmakers with projects like Spaceballs... it's maybe better left to YouTube content creators. It's not quite the same as the kind of thing where films like Mystery Men, Kick-Ass, and Deadpool can deconstruct the ever-superhero film genre because, even when done seriously, the genre has many unique visions AND many recurring tropes. But doing a deconstruction of a fairy tale within the bounds of that tale seems like a miscalculation that's only meant to appeal to audiences used to the cynicism.
In A New Hope, when Ben Kenobi first appears... the score for that moment is one of my favorite John Williams moments, .. as it is used to really punctuate the potential mysteries this "strange old hermit" might have in store to reveal. But now, to most audiences, that moment is "her meets wise old mentor" and they've since seen it a hundred times.. and that leads to this strong strong desire to have even the SW script actually deconstruct these tropes within the narrative and in my opinion all the magic and charm is thus removed.

No one is making you stay, honestly.
Or, on the flip side, just watch what entertains you. I don't think the franchise is in a cynical place, but I get the feeling of being "tapped out." But, that is happening to me for different reasons that have little to do with the films.
It is only cynical if nothing is built back in to its place. With TLJ that is not the case.
As I have stated repeatedly, this is mythmaking as well, the idea of a mentor who is reluctant, reclusive and closed off, who has lost that edge and spark. If it ended there, that would be desconstruction.
Instead, it builds back up toward recognizing failure as a powerful teacher, allowing the heroes to go further than before.
It isn't a story for everyone-no story is. But, for me, at the age I'm out, the struggles I have, the depression I feel, Luke and Rey and their struggles, Poe's arrogance, all of it resounds so deeply with me.
