In "reality", however, shouldn't those panels just have melted under the onslaught rather than have been energized?
It's alien technology built by the Monitor. Presumably it's more robust than Earthly solar panels.

You can't reasonably whine about echo chambers while simultaneously whining about too much diversity, which is what Kirk Prime is doing and you are inexplicably defending. He wants everyone he watches on TV and film to either be exactly like himself, or where people like him are in the dominant position (the ultimate echo chamber), or the way he envisions himself —because no one so fragile over the depiction of a fictional character that constantly crying about their alleged submissiveness becomes their defining characteristic online can really judge who's a wimp or not.

But then, this comes from another one of those guys who complains the most about a lack of civility while being incredibly uncivil towards others not like him. He seems to think civility ends at not making smartass remarks and insults and doesn't include how you treat women, people of color, LGBTQ people, the disabled, etc. It's fine to treat any equal depiction of people like that as "forced diversity" or an insidious agenda apparently, but god forbid if anyone uses harsh language to rebut you.
But mostly, and I can't possibly stress this enough, people just want him to shut the hell up because he's a one-trick pony on a broken record who complains about his same insecure bullshit in every goddamn genre thread he participates in, derailing it. Everyone knows where he stands. Women must not ever be shown in an equal or more flattering light than men or else I feel emasculated. Got it. Message received loud and clear the first eleventy times you whined about it. Move the fuck along. Get a blog or a twitter account and whine about it till your heart's content. Why do we all have to be constantly subjected to it?
It has nothing to do with politics, it has to do with tedium. We're fucking exhausted by this forum being taken over by the whiny fucking manbabies and their constant need for emotional reinforcement from TV and film. This kind of behavior has driven tons of people away from the SF&F forum who just want to discuss the merits of the shows and movies themselves without all the extra baggage about soothing someone's fragile ego.
Oh really? It does indeed. It says he doesn't like how Superman is being portrayed so far. And he can make his point without insulting other posters.
Not everyone is some hyper weak minded brainwashed liberal.
Wait, who thinks that?!?If you think that making a man weak is making a woman strong, that's on you, but that's also an insecurity that you share with the writers of this show.
I wouldn’t bother.Wait, who thinks that?!?
Actually, you CAN reasonably argue the two, if you mean "whining about too much diversity" as pushing it in a preachy way.You can't reasonably whine about echo chambers while simultaneously whining about too much diversity, which is what Kirk Prime is doing and you are inexplicably defending. You preach pro-diversity...but multiculturalism and tolerance isn't just about what you accept or safely ignore, but how well you can tolerate uncomfortable thoughts (with some limits of course). But then, this comes from another one of those guys who complains the most about a lack of civility while being incredibly uncivil towards others not like him. Can you imagine if some uppity reverend started preaching about diversity using scripture and non-violent "pushy" protests and boycotts to force his social justice agenda down people's throats? That's crazy talk. Can't have that.Actually, you CAN reasonably argue the two, if you mean "whining about too much diversity" as pushing it in a preachy way.
Good thing I didn't do that then. The person I accused of being against diversity was Kirk Prime. You can tell that because I said his name in the post.Trek_God is the hugest fan of Black Lightning on this board, so it'd be a little hard to accuse him of being against diversity.
Ah, so I see you didn't read the link I posted in the other thread about Karl Popper and the Paradox of Tolerance, because it explains this quite simply. Tolerance of intolerance without limits will eventually result in the destruction of those tolerant elements by the intolerant. It's a false equivalency to say that someone calling for equal rights or representation and someone calling for the suppression of those rights and representation deserve equal consideration and time. You preach pro-diversity...but multiculturalism and tolerance isn't just about what you accept or safely ignore, but how well you can tolerate uncomfortable thoughts (with some limits of course).
Those arguments may be tedious and repetitive and frustrating, but they're at least relevant to the genre this forum is based on and don't revolve around treating a fundamental part of a person's identity that they can't help (nor should they have to) as inferior and loathsome to watch onscreen. So, minor difference. The same frustration (or arguments ad nauseum) can be said of DC vs. Marvel, Deep SPace 9 vs. Babylon 5, etc.
I didn't say it was solely because of Kirk Prime's posts, though he's a big part of the problem because of his obsessive need to repeat the same diversity complaint ad nauseam, as is Flying Spaghetti Monster, as is doylem, as was Star Supremacy before them. And several more posters that make up a relatively small but extremely vocal minority of bigots and sexists who make this an extremely unpleasant forum to participate in for people who just want to come in and talk about the merits of the shows or film without having to be told how any positive depiction of their very existence represents an insidious agenda of wokeness. Is there some documentation that people have left the forum because of Kirk Prime's posts? Or do they have other ways of communicating, or having less time to spend on these boards?
Yup.posting in SF&F and Star Wars extremely toxic and unpleasant and as a result either avoid posting in those forums or find themselves embroiled in these long drawn out derailing battles or they just put people on ignore.
The thread about the forthcoming Superman & Lois show was effectively nuked single-handedly by Kirk Prime and his bullshit, eventually getting the thread closed and ruining the discussion for all of us who don't share his special ... issues.Yup.
Just popping in to ask if anyone knows if the Crisis episodes will be collected and issued on a Blu-Ray set some day? I don't watch any of the shows regularly, But I'd definitely like to see the Crisis series as a standalone 'movie.'
Marc Guggenheim has said a couple of times that the crossovers can't be released this way, for whatever reason. (Think he made a vague reference to union issues or something?) He's said he'd love to, but he's been told no.Just popping in to ask if anyone knows if the Crisis episodes will be collected and issued on a Blu-Ray set some day? I'll cop to sometimes being reluctant to even click on threads about Supergirl, Captain Marvel, the new Doctor Who, Batwoman, Star Wars, or whatever because I just know that I'm going to have to wade through plenty of reactionary whining about "SJWs" and "forced diversity" and "woke" and "PC bullshit" and such, which, frankly, I never need to hear about again. Sometimes it comes down to "how much do I really want to get my geek fix today--and is it worth putting up with all that nonsense again?"
At this point, if somebody starts fretting about some new project being too "woke" or "PC," I pretty much stop caring what they have to say.

But you attacked Trek_God of supporting Prime, and neither of us has a problem with more diversity, but preaching it like an overzealous Christian movie does with the Gospel, and leaving no understanding of 'the other" is a problem for some of us.Good thing I didn't do that then. The person I accused of being against diversity was Kirk Prime. You can tell that because I said his name in the post.
Ah, so I see you didn't read my quote throroughly, so i will underline the part were i DID show i understood it = ...but multiculturalism and tolerance isn't just about what you accept or safely ignore, but how well you can tolerate uncomfortable thoughts (with some limits of course).Ah, so I see you didn't read the link I posted in the other thread about Karl Popper and the Paradox of Tolerance, because it explains this quite simply. Do I have a documented census of people who have left the board? Of course not. That's a ridiculous expectation, and not even something I said. I just said they find posting in SF&F and Star Wars extremely toxic and unpleasant and as a result either avoid posting in those forums or find themselves embroiled in these long drawn out derailing battles or they just put people on ignore. I base this on reading them say those very things here in SF&F or elsewhere on the forum.
