I just got through my first rewatch, and it’s left me really hoping somehow the two series cross over in some way.
The main reason being Sarek. There is no way when Sarek’s emotions were transferred to Picard he did not learn of Burnham. And take seriously the same obligation never to speak of her.
But imagine the nuanced emotion in that scene, when Picard lays eyes on Discovery and knows immediately what it means. He feels Sarek’s vicarious emotions in a flash, and then realizes it’s his obligation to tell her about the fates of Spock and Sarek.
I wouldn’t be sad if Discovery, trying to get home, got marooned in the 25th century.
