You know back in the mists of time when they were still called SciFi (and "TLC" was The Learning Channel) the SciFi website had some decent original short fiction (written) and some pretty good audio scifi/drama short stories. Some with famous scifi actors.
All gone now. Into the abyss.

20 years ago I used to mock the History Channel for running the same WWII documentaries over and over again to the point where I'd derisively call it the "Hitler Channel." Now I'm nostalgic for it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Heh, I was just thinking the same thing the other day...Ancient Aliens was on, and I thought "Man, I actually miss when this was the Hitler Channel"...
I remember when The Learning Channel has shows on like Great Books created by Walter Cronkite and narrated by Donald Sutherland (I think I have a video of the Origin of the Species episode somewhere)...then it devolved into airing shows like "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo!"
I recall that channels like A&E and Bravo used to show plays and even operas and classical music concerts sometimes.
It's like the movie Idiocracy has come true. Next up, MTV will start playing "Ow! My Balls!" 24/7.

The shows on TLC that we miss the most were from James Burke, like Connections and The Day the Universe Changed. Great history, science, and cultural lessons, presented in a captivating way. We've worn out the videotapes we made of some of the episodes. Good stuff!
TLC also used to have a great series about visual effects in movies. This aired in the early-to-mid '90s, and I remember them having episodes about Star Trek VI, Terminator 2, and Jurassic Park.
Wasn't it narrated by Leonard Nimoy or am I thinking of a different but similar series (which I can remember from the mid 80s).
I think the show you're thinking of was Movie Magic that was on Discovery Channel.

The Jim Jefferies Show had it’s last episode a few days ago. Really surprised at it ending but I guess he’s writing/starring in a new sitcom for NBC. I really liked his show.

That sort of fits with what I was thinking of but the show I vaguely remember also showed some behinds the scenes from Highlander II (I remember cos dad went a rented the video - big big big mistake) but it's not listed as on of the films covered but everything else fits what I can remember 35+ years later
I thought Connections was a Discovery Channel show. It aired on Discovery Channel Canada anyway.
Can you cancel a show that no one saw and only one person has ever even heard of?
I think Netflix should start canceling shows that were never made, see how many they can do before someone notices. It's to the point there are 1,000 different TV shows and it's impossible to keep up that I think they could do at least 3-4 fake cancelations before someone goes "That wasn't a show!".
hmmm... should we plan to do that the first Wednesday in April??
