Jackill's reference series also assumed that having a third nacelle (or four) also meant a higher power threshold available, since many of the triple nacelle ships were intended for a tactical role, and might need enhanced power for military operations. A non military example of this would be the Todega tug variant of the Oberth family, which mounts four nacelles in twin dorsal/ventral arrangements and carries a large tractor emitter for towing.

I agree. I can easily see the main hull as a cheap option with a number of modules for a secondary section.

Port holes are a pain. They look so nice on the curved hull until you have to put them in the other views.

I'm working on ports and markings for the Phase II design. I'm trying to figure out what markings it might need, but I'm leaning toward few markings. I also need to add the phasers so this design fits with the lineage. I have no idea what the original production might have ended up doing (from the few pieces I think Jefferies big phaser had already been split in two and might not have been a phaser any more), but they were working from the FJ drawing which is where the TMP design got their phaser banks from. So I intend to include those same phaser banks and leave the weapon on the neck as the torpedoes as it ended up being in the final configuration for TMP. That may not be 100% accurate for the Phase II design, but really, since they never finished it, this project can't be 100% accurate to the finished model. I'm using the Mike Minor paintings to fill in some details and letting the finished TMP design fill in others.

I think I have all the markings that I will be using. I'm keeping it fairly minimal. The one question I am down to is the phaser banks. I'm going to use the FJ phaser positions, but should they be marked as the TMP phasers - in a yellow box with a red border? I'm leaning that way. It would have 3 pairs on the saucer and one split pair on the back of the secondary hull (matching the location of the TMP refit). The other question is bottom phasers or not? I'm leaning to not. This provides a gradual increase in coverage as well as power (as stated in TMP dialog).

I assume you mean to put the 3 phaser pairs on the bottom of the saucer.

No. Phasers on the saucer matching the FJ plans (two banks on top on either side and one below forward). Plus a split bank on the aft end of the secondary hull above the hanger to match the TMP. But I'm torn about whether to put any on the bottom of the secondary hull where the TMP has 4 individual phasers and where FJ didn't include any, but did on the Dreadnought design. I'm aiming for just a bit more than FJ included, but far less than TMP.

Been quietly following this. I do hope we get to see more soon. Remarkable work.

No progress over the Holidays. I'm nearing the end of the Phase II drawings. I need to finish transferring the secondary hull windows to the top and bottom views and I need to flesh out the cross section a bit more. It is nice that the TMP sets were adapted from the Phase II sets, so I can copy and adapt what I need.

Checking in to see if you made new progress on your project. I love what you've done, so far.

No, I decided to take a class and I have no time. And it was not my only project. I will get to it soon. Probably before our various house arrest terms have finished.

Class is closing in on the finish.

And just a few details left to finish for the Phase II Enterprise. I need to polish the cross section and draw the few sets that were constructed (Bridge, Engineering, Transporter room). Then on to the movie version.

Ah, finally a moment for some progress. I believe the exterior views are finished. I need to draw the Phase II set plans and finish the cross section, so that is still very much a work in progress.

Great to see these. If I understand the deck plan cross-section correctly, I see that the engineering set is a the base of the wings, when essentially the same set (with modifications) was more forward in the ship and went up through the neck in the movies. Can you share more about how you chose this placement? I know that this was discussed at length at one time, and I'm curious to hear your final reasoning. I also see what appears to be a horizontal engineering structure in the saucer near the impulse engines. Is this supposed to be like a TOS-style engine room still in place?
