It's a great series. And, even if I didn't ever watch the Starlost, I know that Star Maidens is more enjoyable and fun than it because, unlike the former, it never takes itself seriously.^^ That looks fantastic. I don't think I've ever heard a single word about that one.![]()
I read a few reviews of the show, and none has spent a good word for it. There is must be a reason why there aren't Starlost conventions out there.

Star Maidens
It seems it was broadcast once in a New York local station.1976? Did it not get a U.S. release?
FromHector P. Feria supplied detailed info for New York syndication screenings - he recalls the series airing in Autumn (Fall) 1978 on local New York City independent station WNEW-TV Channel 5, Saturday evenings around 5:00 or 6:00 p.m. The channel later changed its call sign to WNYW-TV and aired the movie edit (but not the individual episodes) in the 1980s.
Thanks. Vimeo is asking me to pay for it, though, and it turns out that the DVD set is cheaper on Amazon. It's a great series. And, even if I didn't ever watch the Starlost, I know that Star Maidens is more enjoyable and fun than it because, unlike the former, it never takes itself seriously.
You can watch all the episodes (legally!) on Vimeo.

Star Maidens
Yes, but they did it firstI watched the first episode of Star Maidens. It's Angel One: The Series. Even the way they sit down in some scenes would make Riker proud.

Absolutely! And I love the single gloveHelmets, crop tops and hot pants. Now that's sensible uniform.![]()
Well, remaking a concept doesn't require doing it with the same tone or style. For instance, The Fugitive was a dramatic series about Richard Kimble helping the people he came across in his travels, but the Harrison Ford movie and the Tim Daly TV remake were both fast-paced action thrillers. The Beauty and the Beast remake was less of a fairy-tale romance and more of a conspiracy thriller, while the new Nancy Drew is (I gather) a dark, racy, supernatural melodrama in contrast to the kid-friendly mystery-solving show I watched back in the '70s. And Netflix's Lost in Space is basically a smarter, better-made version of what the '60s show started out to be in its first few episodes, rather than the goofy, campy nonsense it ended up becoming.
You know what is one the best reboot out there? That's generally how revivals, reboots, and reimaginings go-- they really just recycle names and terminology, with no respect for the source material.
Couldn't even make it through half of the pilot of Nancy Drew - its absolutely NOTHING like Nancy Drew; Just like Riverdale, the adaptation changes just about everything that was at the core of the original. It may be a decent teen supernatural mystery show, but its definitely not Nancy Drew.
It's not possible to do the Nancy Drew of the novels in this TV series,or in the present day. In fact,a Veronica Mars-type version might work best.
Haven't seen Veronica Mars - what makes it work?
And yes, Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, and Tom Swift all work best as period pieces, and without modern technology. Done properly it could be great television.
