I hate to ask "who's next"?

Walker was insanely good in Charlie X...

He was great as Charlie, that final scene on the Bridge still gives me chills.

Condolences to his family and friends. :(

RIP. He was really great as Charlie.

Even the actor/actress who played Leonard James Akaar is over 50 years now, assuming he/she didn't die young. At least those dying now had most of the times a long full life as they were generally adults on TOS.

That's a great photo of him in that link. I read on Wikipedia that he had seven kids so quite the Legacy.
It's in my top 10 episodes and he was great in it. Rest in peace.

Somewhere I picked up the anecdote that Walker remained aloof from the Star Trek cast rather than pal around with them, to ensure his character would retain the vibes of total isolation.

Incidentally, it's gratifying to see how prominently his Star Trek credit was treated by The Hollywood Reporter. That would never have happened in the 1970s, when "trekkies" were regarded as snot-nosed social misfits, and the show was often treated as a joke by smug, condescending journalists. We and our show have really come up in the world.

An actor with an eternal youthful appearance! Apart from Charlie Evans in Star Trek he also played an ill alien who remorselessly spread his disease to innocent humans in The Invaders and he was also Billy The Kid in Irwin Allen's The Time Tunnel! RIP Charlie X

Oddly, I could have sworn I saw Walker reprise his role as a much-older Charlie in a Star Trek Continues or Star Trek New Voyages episode, but now I can't find any evidence of it on the Web. I wonder if it was just a comic book or something, and my memory is whack.

    Ditto.

He's been in a few things, which I've not seen (not my favorite genres), but his performance as Charlie is incredibly good.

He died one day after the legendary DC, who was but one year older than him.

She wrote the teleplay of "Charlie X" based on Roddenberry's storyline and it's an impeccable slice of Trek...

You’re thinking of Of Gods and Men. While that fan film did show Charlie as an older adult, Robert Walker didn’t come back for the role. William Wellman played the older Charlie.

Thanks! I was so perturbed by this "false memory" that I turned into an iguana. Only briefly, but still.

I looked up his résumé; he was in "Easy Rider". I need to get that on my to-see list as Toni Basil is in it too. Ditto for Michael Pataki... "America Lost and Found: The BBS Story" blu-ray collection is a must-have, too (it's part of that collection, with other terrific films. "Five Easy Pieces" is another great in that collection, and "Head" - which is a trippy 1960s time capsule in its own right - becomes a lot more haunting given various subtexts and allegories... a surprisingly complex movie for being about "nothing"... )

Hit it soon while it's still 50th anniversary business! He was a hippie commune leader, IIRC.

A fine actor. He was wonderful as Charlie. As others have said, that final scene was haunting. I felt really sorry for him. Walker also appeared on Columbo. Rest in Peace.
