How did Luke see a city in the clouds that he had never been to before and didn't know the name of or where it was until later?

that he actually saw the future where is freinds were is pretty consistent with who he is and the closeness he has to his friends.. oh.. and was never a problem for 39 years until you use it to (barely not even close) explain away bad writing in a worse film. Such practices tarnish both films and is pretty damn flimsy

You keep bringing up this argument. First, there have been criticisms about all of these films even, no, especially from fans as long as I can remember. I mean, let’s be honest, as great as they are, there’s a lot of crap there. I hate Jabba’s palace. I hate that there’s a second Death Star. I hate that Luke is perfectly fine in ANH at the end despite all that’s happened to him in that movie. I hate the convenience that brings Artoo and Threepio to Luke Skywalker, particularly in light of the movies as a saga. I hate that there’s a fucking worm in an asteroid field. I hate that Han never just went back to pay Jabba. I hate, based on the events of ANH and ESB that Luke and Leia are siblings. I hate “from a certain point of view.” I honestly hate that Luke is a whiny little bitch. I could keep going. And honestly, I’ve felt that way about these movies for a long time. But those complaints don’t mean I don’t love the movies. So please stop acting like having issues with these movies is something new and unprecedented.

Second, let’s be brutally honest for a moment: the Force is deus ex machina incarnate. It always has been. Suggesting otherwise is being blind to what these movies have always done. So this complaint that adding new Force powers is lazy writing is really silly to me.

As for Luke's lightsaber - we have learned from canon animated shows that lightsabers are powered by crystals that are chosen/shaped/fused through a semi-mystical process that requires a powerful connection to the Force, and deep meditation.
So Rey's latent Force sensitivity would easily be able to detect the location and existence of an object (the crystal in Anakin's lightsaber) as deeply connected to the light and dark side of the Force.

People compare Snoke to Palpatine .. like in the sense that we didn't get background on Palpatine so why do we need it for Snoke. Well considering the first trilogy was told from the point of view of a farmer and a truck driver essentially, and only one of those characters meets Palpatine near the end it's understandable. However, by the time we get to the sequels, the SW universe has already been built out, a timeline of sorts has been established.. a history, and someone as powerful and as old as Snoke has to be placed fairly on that timeline, and he can't be just the same thing.. (well I guess he can but it seems unsatisfying). Clearly, Snoke is just a cypher, an obstacle RJ wrote for Kylo to overcome, and he didn't even THINK of what Snoke's backstory is.. RJ confirmed on twitter that like Palpatine he didn't sneed one .. so yeah he is just a cypher.. except the fact that it also drew Luke away from the Force in the awful flashbacks.. so this cypher character is not only terrible.. but it makes great characters into terrible ones, and that he is underwritten by design is even worse

For you it is unsatisfying. Personally, like many of the ST characters, Snoke is one that I am highly intrigued by and actually got me in to reading books and comics from the ST, unlike much of the PT stuff.

Nope. That "history" was largely the product of licensed non-canon works for hire (novels, comic books, etc.)
Lucas (the original IP holder) could easily and happily ignore all that stuff if and when he chose to make canonical sequels.
When the IP was transferred to a new owner, they gained the right to easily and happily ignore any and all elements of the non-canon licensed works for hire, which they (in general) did.
This is a commercial product, not the Encyclopedia Britannica.

I'm keeping it low-key, just a lightsaber for myself and the rest of the folks going with. Still haven't decided which one, though. Most likely I'll go with a Graflex variant, though Obi-Wan's EP IV saber has been calling to me recently and I'm really happy with my new Starkiller.

This kind of ties into the original plan, which was for Leia to be the last Jedi.

JJ Abrams has said that there will be new Force powers introduced in The Rise of Skywalker, and he is aware this will piss some people off. I'm not bothered by it, they've been introducing new powers, and aspects of the Force fairly often since Empire Strikes Back. They've never really laid out a specific number of abilities that the Force gives you, so I don't see why they can't add new powers every now and then.
