Would you be OK with a remake of The Cage?

There's no knowing what will happen with Discovery in the far future, but I assume it will be temporary
As @Lord Garth said, the people behind the show have said they intend Discovery's move to the future to be a permanent one and the true future of the Trekverse, although presumably Georgiou needs to return for the Section 31 show.

Hmmm... I'm sure the Andromeda comparisons have been made ad nauseum already. So Discovery will henceforth be a show about rebuilding the Federation?

Me no like!

The plan is to not go back. They've taken Discovery out of the 23rd Century permanently. The showrunners have said this several times.

The plan is not for DISCOVERY to go back, not for every single Star Trek series from here on out.

(Sniff.) Am I the only one who wants to see Star Trek return to the FUTURE of Trek?:sigh:
Future trek series need, for me, to be plausible, to be a significant departure from the relatable happy crew on a star ship.

Jumping an other hundred years forward. Imagine a century of the greatest inquisitive minds in the cosmos picking over every magical plot device we’ve ever seen in the series, and then build a world on top of that and a have a star ship crew have adventures in it. It would have all the mystery and excitement of crossing a corridor.

22nd to 24th is where it should stay, or, collapse the federation.

TREK: Here's the Pike era!:D

FANS: We want the future.

TREK: Here's the future.:D:D

FANS: It's the wrong kind of future!:scream:

Darn tootin’! I would like... and I don’t think I am alone on this... a program that continues the continuity begun with TOS and which ended (so far) with Voyager. They can do any other kind of show they want as well, but I get the sense from Discovery that this new season is more of a “what if?” premise.

I WANT WILLIAM T. RIKER III AND LOL 2.0 FLYING AROUND THE GALAXY IN GEORDI’S VISOR,GODDAMIT!

As much as I love "The Cage," I think things would need to change so much to be acceptable to today's sensibilities that it would no longer even be recognizable as the same story.

If they thought they could do better, let them try. If it is good then I'll have two versions. If it fails I will still have the original.

How's that for some T'Pring style logic?

No. After a few seasons we'll have enough footage that fans will be deepfaking the new cast (I don't know about replacing Nimoy though) onto the Cage, maybe even replacing the bridge backgrounds as well depending on how much effort they want to put into it.

That's my logic as well. I love it when people go back and explore a project and try and create it again. I would welcome it, or something a long the lines of a flashback for Pike.

I'd welcome it.

What a colossal waste of time that would be.
