That's good news about Tynion taking over. Despite my misgivings at the beginning of it, I have really grown to love King's run on Batman and was disappointed when I heard he was leaving. I like Tynion's take on Batman though so that makes me feel better.

I'm very happy that DC is scrapping the twice-monthly scheme. Hopefully this means we'll get a little more consistency on the art front. Not that the art has been bad, I just really like having a consistent art team.

    Batman comics are getting insane.

    Curious--

Have the comics done anything with the multiverse lately? The last I heard, they prevented the original Crisis, and thus saved that multiverse. I would love to see what happened to pre-Crisis Earth 2 Kal-L and pre-Crisis Earth 1 Superman. I feel like there was one comic where they canonized Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow. As for Kal-L, if Crisis never happened, then he doesn't die in Infinite Crisis. I'd love that confirmed.

The Multiverse figures in the latest arc in JLA.

I've been enjoying the JLA/JSA team-up in the recent issues.

Which multiverse? The pre-crisis one? DC made it so confusing. Like there's a pre-Crisis Earth 2, and post-Crisis Earth 2, that are basically the same thing, but they make it worse by using the same name.

This is from stuff I read in the CBR message boards, as well as a few articles on Bleeding Cool. Posting links in my tablet sucks, so I'll post some when I get home.

Anyway, story goes that the big crisis the titles are working towards will restructure the timeline into four generations, starting with Wonder Woman and the JSA in the 1940s, and it would then lead into a fifth generation, with most major players being replaced by legacy characters, including Superman and Batman. Supposedly, Jon Kent will be aged up even more so he can become the new Superman, Lucas Fox will be the new Batman, etc.

It’s the current Multiverse. Why would it be otherwise? Pretty much the same one seen in The Multiversity.

I don’t like the sound of that all. Hopefully it’s all just baseless rumors.

I actually kind of like it, but they won't stick to it in any meaningful sense, because it would mean Bruce being Old Man Bruce permanently, and having moved on from Hal Jordan and Barry Allen onto the legacy characters a couple decades ago. I wouldn't mind Superman having grown up in the 50s and 60s, though, and some stories honestly work better as retro / period pieces to begin with.

Of course, the present in-universe wouldn't resemble the present remotely anymore, either, and there is no way they will go with the present in-world being a completely unrecognizable world from reality.

I really can't see that being a permanent change, I find it very hard to believe they would go that far off of the iconic versions of the characters.
The only way I could see it lasting more than a few months to a year is if it's actually an Ultimate Comics style alternate universe that exists alongside the main universe with the traditional versions of the characters.

Yet, in some ways, these would be the *most* iconic and traditional versions of its characters ever, staying true to all of their origins and roots and taking everything in the proper context of the time.

    I'm intrigued.

I don't think you understand. The new content in the regular titles would not be about the original versions in their respective periods, but about the legacy characters in the present.

This is the first I heard of it, but all this kind of does is restore where DC was going prior to Infinite Crisis--creating a series of legacy characters.

I would actually like the concept if they did each era as a separate Earth. And the hyper aging of kid characters is such a beaten to death old trope. It's the one thing I haven't really been a big fan of with Bendis's run on Superman. Of course Jon Kent was introduced to us as a tween after the events of Convergence so I guess I might be splitting hairs here.

So what does everyone think of the plans for Superman in the upcoming issue #18?

    In case you don't know...

Apparently he'll be revealing his secret identity to the world. Again.

I enjoyed the New 52 reveal and wish they had had more time to play with it, so I'm looking forward to seeing what Bendis can do with this.

It's a stupid idea as is some of the reasoning behind it. Frankly I've not been impressed with Bendis' writing.
