then they threw out 2 billion on a theme park that is just a glorified mall
Yes, and the theme park / resorts division of Disney is, by far (it seriously isn't even remotely close), its biggest revenue generator.

I seem to remember just the other day Iger saying that attendance was down despite a new land called Star Wars opening
If we are only counting the box office profit: probably not.Looking at the numbers, they made back the money they spent getting "Star Wars" from Lucas already. Rise of Skywalker will likely be were they either make profit, or brake even from all the other costs with making these films. But that also means that any Star Wars production after Rise of Skywalker is profit.

Except Will Riker. He is going to live forever.
My point is: This incessant desire to see someone gone because you don’t like the direction of an entertainment franchise is pathetic. Perhaps people who are so obsessed should find a better hobby.
"Something, something, something, feminism!I'm still waiting for an explanation about whatever the hell this "agenda" Kathleen Kennedy is supposedly pushing and why it's so harmful.

Which is the only absolute measure of success. There is a silliness to calling the Disney run a failure like some folks do, projecting their personal feelings onto the films. People are still showing up for these movies
If we are only counting the box office profit: probably not.

They only got ~1.5 Billion from the four movies combined. And this is with the conservative estimates that Solo only lost 50 million. I have seen projections that it possibly lost them 200 million plus. Maybe tax write-offs?
My opinion of them is neither here nor there.

When you start with 2 billion dollars worldwide down is realistically the only way you can go. TFA was the movie no one believed would ever happen. A continuation bringing back Luke, Han and Leia, it was a mega event that turned into regularly scheduled Star Wars movies.except that.. the line graph is going downward. They blew their load by targeting a huge first film.. and ever since the trajectory has gone downward.. .. and the last film they made lost money.
That's a bad comparison, the MCU didn't start with Iron Man building up C tier characters by choice, Marvel simply didn't have the movie rights to their big characters. If they could have done Spider-Man or X-Men as their first movie they would have and if they could have build on one of the most successful movie series ever they would have done that too.Now I don't care for the MCU all that much.. but Iron man was not a billion dollar film.. they actually built to end game.. which made a shit ton of money.
Right. If Star Trek was in a "sorry" state like that on the movie side we'd all be doing happy dances. Solo, the failure of the Star Wars franchise still made more than Star Trek 09 and Beyond and only a bit less than Into Darkness.Five movies by the end of December, many of them quite successful financially
Cartoons, a live action TV show about to drop, two more coming. Comics, books.
If this is a "sorry" state, sign me up.
You are not even being fair here.. even if it made more money at the box office than those films, it still LOST the studios money, whereas the Trek films did notSolo, the failure of the Star Wars franchise still made more than Star Trek 09 and Beyond and only a bit less than Into Darkness.
Yes but instead of building a narrative (especially if they knew they could make an unlimited number of films) to get uus invested, like showing what the FO was and showing it gaining power gradually .. it decided to go right to the boring "let's blow up the biggest superweapon imaginable" and after that there was nowhere else for the trilogy to go.When you start with 2 billion dollars worldwide down is realistically the only way you can go.
